Hello, when I press the speak button on the steering wheel I hear the lady saying "blah blah ... after the beep".
But I can't hear it and the screen message disappears. The system was working ok all the time, but after changing some settings now does not. In the picture the relevant settings as they are now.

I don't see anything in the User Manual about turning off the beep, although it is possible to turn off Voice Guidance completely, as can be seen on Page 67 of the Navigation System Manual (screen shot attached below). Out of curiosity, what is your volume setting for Voice Guidance?

I would have thought that possibly the steering wheel button for Voice Control was malfunctioning, but if you can hear Voice Guidance at all after pressing the button, as you say you can, I think that proves the button is sending the proper signal to the head unit. I believe the Voice Guidance sound only comes through one of the driver's side speakers on our car. I wonder if the beep comes from another speaker (not sure), or possibly the speaker that is receiving the beep signal has lost its ability to produce a sound at the frequency required for the beep, but not at the frequency required for Voice Guidance. If that were the case, I would think you could still give a voice command after waiting a second or two that would be picked up by the microphone, even though you haven't heard a beep. Have you tried that? It is most logical to assume that the lack of a beep has been caused by your changing of the system settings, but I don't see anything in the manual allowing you to turn the beep off, so I can only guess that it has nothing to do with system settings, particularly if it stopped without you having changed the settings.

Edit: I re-read you post, and now see that you acknowledged changing system settings. I believe there is a Default option that will put your system back to its original settings, but I'm not seeing it in the manual right now. If you can find that, that would probably be best. Otherwise, you could try disconnecting your 12V battery for a minute or 2 to get back to the default settings, but unfortunately you would also lose any other navigation information that you have input into your system.

2nd Edit: Ok, of course there is a Default choice at the bottom of the screen you posted, as you have probably already noticed.

After spending some time testing I found that the microphone works ok (mobile communication is OK too).
Getting into the diagnostics screen, if I use the audio settings and test the recording everything is OK.
But if I use the NAV/GPS settings, microphone does not respond. So as voice recognition is active only when a DVD is inserted
(I have checked that) I think that somehow Nav is not permitting the microphone from working.
Is there any way to reset the system?

I would guess disconnecting the 12V battery would do it, but as mentioned that would erase everything in the system (addresses, etc.) you might want to keep as well.

I believe there's volume level adjustment in your navigation settings, take a look.. I don't have a Gen 2 near me right now, but I do know I can adjust volume on it, because I don't like to hear it out loud..

Volume is at the maximum. I hear the lady prompting but I don't hear the beep that triggers the microphone. Was working until end of March...

What year is your Gen2 Prius?

This what I found on a search, didn't know if it will apply..

"On '08 Prius, press the "info" button at the bottom right. Look near the top right of the screen. There should be a "Beep Off" button. hit it and the indicator light next to it will turn green. No more beeps"

It is a 2007 model. That beep on/off is an option for the MFD, to hear or not the beep when you touch the screen, like mobile phones. Has nothing to do with the beep of the voice recognition. Thanks by the way!
