So I Was Driving Home From Target Then All The Lights Came On Like A Christmas Tree. So I pulled over read the codes only codes was P3006 And P3000. So I took to my mechanic and he got these codes
P3027 - Battery Block 17 Becomes Weak P3000 - HV Battery Malfunction P3009 - High Voltage Power Short Circuit P3006 - Battery State-Of-Charge Are Uneven C1310 - Malfunction In HV System C1259 - HV System Regenerative Malfunction
So I’m wondering if the 12V was causing this or it will really is the hybrid battery and regenerative breaking I had the car since Late 2002. It has 651K Miles. I need some options here. I’m in hardwood md. The car also won’t go over 10 MPH. Thanks

Ok update so I found green tech in Bowie there working on gens 1 unlike Prius hybrid repair in Annapolis they can come to me should I get it fix there or try to fix myself? They can fix the hybrid battery and regenerative breaking for around 1,500 dollars because I really don’t want a new car I could use green bean bc they have a 5 years warranty but they 2,249 and 1,949 for the battery and 300 for regenerative box Breaking So please help

If your 12V is ailing, then you don't trust anything until it's not.

But if that's the original HV battery, then it's been on borrowed time. And with a code pointing to a specific block I'd find it at least a little surprising if all of those codes were triggered merely by a bad 12V.

If that's the original HV battery, it didn't just borrow time, it stole it and stomped it into the ground. Congratulations.

If you are looking at the C1259 code and thinking that means you need work on your braking system, you will be relieved to know that it does not necessarily mean your braking system is failing. It is just the Braking System ECU reporting that it is having a problem charging your HV battery. Once the HV battery problem is fixed, the C1259 code should go away.

I had this very code, I replaced both rear wheel hubs and cleared the code. Problem fixed.

I don't need to address this issue for myself at the moment, but wondering how you diagnosed this? Or maybe just changed them out for some other reason or on a guess?

I had all kinds of engine codes like yours in my '01, that all went away after replacing the HV battery. Sounds like your car is in limp mode, which means it's given up on the HV battery, and is getting all its power from the IC engine. Should be able to get it up to the speed limit, but will sound like you're stuck in first gear.

So, please tell us. This is the original battery?

In my opinion it is not realistic to expect your Prius to last many years longer. So, don't sink a lot of money into it. Find a hybrid shop that can test the battery and replace any bad cells.

Meanwhile, you could disconnect the 12v battery and see if the codes clear, then see if that will get you out of limp mode. If it runs OK, even briefly, then it is most likely just the hybrid battery.

This is the original HV battery! The 12v was Disconnected Three times and same issue the battery fan doesn’t come to after 15 seconds after the red triangle comes on it’s so loud. Well the break light is on. The mechanic does have tech stream block 17 was at around 13.98V others were around 16V
So I’m wondering where can I buy gen 1 cells? He change the oil that same day to 4.9 Courts. Because I was 2 weeks past due on my oil change!

But here’s my question why would the battery fail I was in passing a wawa gas station in Edgewater md when the light came on had to pull over a chick fila to check codes. It is bc I passed the 650K mark when I left target in Annapolis Md I mean my Catalytic converter was change in Late June Of 2009 due to the P0420 I got in early June of 2009 but I don’t think that would cause it! I mean in mid July of 2015 I got the rear left tire sensor replaced because it was malfunctioning i think it was c0215!
Though it was the only two times I got it work on because oil changes!

Your battery died of old age, period. When a 109 year old man dies "suddenly", it is hard to find a specific cause, so they say "natural causes" or something like that. You are fortunate that it is only one cell.

Gen 1 cells are for sale on Ebay.

Has your mechanic said what he would charge to replace a cell?
