That's funny, I was just thinking it was something to do with WaWa. Every time I pass a Wa Wa my red triangle goes on and then it just goes away once I've got my chik-fila sammich. ;):p

He said he over 2000.00$ plus income , tax and labor. And. Regenitive breaking is 450.00$ with income, tax and labor.

That can't be to just replace a single cell. What do you mean by "income"

Income means money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments. that’s for whole battery to replace a single cell is 998.99$ It’s half of 2000.00 for the whole battery

This is the code you will get before the wheel hub goes bad then it will give the code of which one it is later. By then your hybrid battery will take a hit and not charge correctly.

Replacing a single module (to use the correct term, you can't replace a single cell, each module consists of 6 cells in a metal casing) should not cost half the price of a new battery. A good used module itself would cost about $40 (you can't buy a new one, only a whole battery), but if your mechanic is (hopefully) testing it and installing it, there will be a few hundred dollars in labor charges. To do the job correctly, and make the fix last longer than a month or 2, he should really refurbish the entire battery through a process described here, as well in many other threads on this forum. That would probably cost $500 or so, if you could find anyone to do it, or if you wanted to try it yourself using a kit available here. With 18 years and 651k on the car, how much longer do you expect it to last? At this point I would not think it would be worthwhile putting a brand new battery in the car, so would recommend a module replacement and battery refurbishment.

I'm about to puke from this thread.

@HenryAPriusGuy ----your hybrid battery has 38 individual small battery modules inside. there are two modules per block. You have a failed module in block 17. It's not complicated. Fix the battery or replace it. The other (regen) code will clear when you fix the battery.

@AzusaPrius -- what in the world are you talking about rear wheel hubs causing this problem on a GEN 1 prius? I'm not a GEN 1 guru, am I missing something here?

reading this thread makes me feel like I'm in the twilight zone or something...

I wouldn't pay for the regenitive braking repair unless it's been tested and know to be a real issue. The breaking code I got, (can't recall the number), only meant that the car was not using regenitive breaking, because the HV battery wasn't working properly. Replaced the battery, and the breaking code went away.

If your lucky, replacing just the bad modules will get the car running again for a while, but in my case the entire pack was warn out, so replacing a few cells didn't help.

C1259 and C1310 are just codes that mean the brake ECU was notified of hybrid-system issues by the HV ECU.

The hybrid system issue it was notified about may have been your battery issue.

So you could clear those codes and see if they come back. If they don't, that was the only HV issue and it's now sorted.

If they do come back, you'll then want the current codes from the HV ECU to find out what else it is trying to tell you about.

If they are NiMH modules it is OK. Some Gen 4 like mine use an improved version of your Gen 1 modules. The battery is likely better than new now.

Many Gen 4 use Li-Ion modules that would not work.

    TMR-JWAP: "Twilight Zone"?? "Puke!"??

I can't close my own slack-jawed mouth, which is dribbling what I only hope is saliva and not protoplasm or some other precious bodily fluid down the front of my shirt, which I don't remember being nearly so psychedelic when I put it on earlier today.

Oh, wait. Light's on now. That's not my shirt. I'm not even wearing a shirt.

It's the design suggested by the ground-beef-looking stuff oozing from the ragged slit that I apparently self-inflicted about halfway through this thread when virtually no one had suggested that 651k miles and an original battery might be a tad unusual, or a record or two, or a sign of The/An Apocalypse, and I had the overwhelming compulsion to do something to move the increasingly agonizing incongruity of my view of the situation from my brain elsewhere, and, my being right-handed with weak, arthritic wrists and bad shoulders, missed my jugular vein, yet ripped surprisingly forcefully through the left half of my torso, having momentarily felt the strength, in the form of the three-quarter-crazed insanity of many madmen and not a few madwomen, fortunately having mustered the wherewithal to pull back just shy of severing a few aortas, veins, and such, though having done so would have eliminated these last momentary yet horribly painful vestiges of the situation, which are becoming, even as I rant and ramble, thankfully a bit foggy, as I transmogrify from old man at extreme end of tether to reality into beautiful cockroach that will stalk the centipede (or millipede; all that wiggling!) that just crawled out of my left ear and down the trail of spittle and gore onto the floor, and slowly devour all of its countably metric system inspired appendages, stowing the now-zeropede torso in some no longer used orifice of my former body (a.k.a. my exoskeleton), and repeat the process on the entire bottom-of-the-rock-garden-dwelling infinitude of the whatever-pede family that has given me the Willies for 10 years.

But before I find myself limited to insect-like rattles and clicks for communickashick, I must knowck....
Cank someonk clivk theck hack 1,000,000 miles ick ack Prickucks?
