Buddy of mine lives in Huntington Beach. His 05 has 225k miles, HV battery not working, not driveable right now. But he's starting a job with a long commute and would like to get his car up and running with a refurbished battery. Personally I'd sell that prius and just buy a fresh 07-09, they don't cost much. But he's attached, had it since new...

He could do the swap if needed but he's out of time to rebuild his own. I told him I'd ask for recommendations here. So could anyone recommend reputable refurb'd battery sources in the area? I appreciate the help.

There are some members down there that may have a usable pack laying around, or what about finding a decent low mileage option like : Toyota Prius 2007 For Parts - auto parts - by owner - vehicle... there are other options, but they would also take time and travel to procure.

If there is the possibility of being fired from the new job for showing up late or missing work, then get a new battery or talk to the boss first.

A new battery will provide many years of perfect service, and he won't have to worry about the battery failing before/during/after a commute.

Thanks for the tip. That HV battery just sold this morning for $700, but I found a couple nearby on car-part. Thanks.

Your buddy ain't too far from me, and I have the same car 2005. I lucked out on a 2009 battery from a wreck with 102K miles.

    Did he find anything?

If anything, tell him to avoid Socal Hybrid Repair in Santa Ana. They are the worst and they came fast and swapped out my battery, but their battery didn't last long. I was able to sell that battery to a rebuilder for the same cost I picked up the 2009, so I very much lucked out on that one.

Still mad at myself for being out the $577 to that shop for shoddy work.
