Interested in 2007 Prius

Not enough info to say if it can be driven.

If it does have 2 bad cells, the repair can range from $100 to $3500.

$100 = buying cells ($50-$150 on eBay) and swapping them out, some call this whack a mole because without reconditioning either those cells or others will fail in the not too distant future

$300-$500 = replacing those modules, and the cheaper form of reconditioning equipment, then reconditioning and charging the cells properly, with this equipment and a not small amount of time investment, you can keep a battery pack going for years

$1000 = a rebuilt battery pack that may or may not last 1-2 years, many come with 2yr warranties

$1600-$2000 = buying brand new cells and swapping them in yourself, could last 5 years or longer

$2000-3500 = a brand new OEM battery, should last 5-10 years, but surprisingly short term warranty

Regardless of the battery, you should have a hybrid mechanic check it out, and if the find any DTC codes and possibly sub-codes, post them here, there are lots of members here that can give great advice based on the codes, or lack thereof.

3. always check the engine oil level and have it topped off.

 

When was the last time you had a car that was at 210,000 miles? Have you ever driven a 2007 Prius?

 

Gen 2 Prius are tough little cars, 210K on the clock isn't bad.. all depends on service record ( spark plugs, transmission fluid, PCV, radiator and inverter fluid ), and how handy you are mechanically..
You can get an OBDII Bluetooth scanner with app downloaded to your phone to diagnose issues at hand...
But depends on how much You're paying for it and if it's worth it for you to fix it..

How much you want to spend? I have an 07 with 125k brand new oem hybrid battery among other repairs below. I’m in NJ and it’s Seaside pearl Mica. I have receipts for all parts and repairs as well.

The simple answer is no, it cannot be driven reliably in this condition.

 

That routine will be disastrous for a Prius.

A Prius needs to be driven almost daily for At least 20 miles to charge its battery’s. Especially if it has a jacked up hybrid battery.

In fact I would not use any hybrid car for that routine. Buy nice little used gas engine only car and get on with your life.

The g2 hybrid battery’s last the longest in cars that were driven daily very long distances. But then again even just the years get you like if you live in a humid area so corrosion sets in.

My car my wife drives the hybrid battery started to fail at 125000 miles because the car was not driven a lot like 10000 miles a year.

 

What year? 125k sounds low but years hits the battery too (heat/humidity/number of charging discharge cycles) don’t you think? So a car that is drive long distance (express way) as one trip see less cycles than a car that drive in a stop and going city traffic so it looks like long drive make it last longer but it may be more of charge discharge cycles the car go (rechargeable battery have a expected charge discharge cycles life) so conclusion a low miles city car may have more charging discharging cycles than a higher miles car that drive more of it miles on highways.

My 07 battery took a dump at 120k. It had one bad cell so I just replaced the whole thing with oem. I’m hoping to get 300k out of it unless I sell it.

I will expect something like that too from a dealer new pack, but most likely if you can make those 300k inside the time frame life of the battery, otherwise you may miss half of those miles just as the pack you replace with 120k, from reading over here PC I see people expectancy it’s 8-10 years anything after that it’s just a hit or miss, so putting 300 in the first 8-10 years it’s more likely than trying to push another 150k of a 10 years old 150k battery pack.

 

Just thinking’s loud, miles may matter on a young battery pack but in a old battery pack years may be worse than miles, that may be the reason why a pack with a 300k take the dump at the same age that another pack with only 120k, what the 2 pack have a common, they both lived the time frame already no matter one is 120 and the other 300k.

 

If I get another 150k miles out of this car and the new oem battery then buying the oem was money well spent. But I presume this battery will be for sale in a few years when the car goes to poop.

We've many G2's @250,000 that still have the oem hybrid battery driven hard hung up wet. My car spent more time sitting then driving and it killed it.
Got another 20,000 miles out of it of on a prolong charger discharger and on its second discharge looking good. But the clock be tickin'.... ..

 

Sounds great! but I leave the killed term for a pack that need modules replace to be functional again, so if you didn’t replace any module I will say you pack was weak not dead or killed and with the charger discharging you regain some capacity and it make you battery pack stronger again.
