My 2008 Prius has 267000Kms on it. It had this loud noise like a plane and turned out that I had to replace both the wheel bearings in the front. My local mechanic changed and there is no more noise, however, the brake lights and the ABS lights don't seem to go away. What is the reason why this is happening and what can I do to get rid of this? Any help will be appreciated.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Do you have any OBD2 codes (DTCs) that you can share with us here?

Unfortunately, I don't have the codes, I have an OBD2 reader but don't know how to use it. I am just sharing the lights that I see on the dash. Even before the front bearings were changed these brake lights and ABS lights were on.

"Your local mechanic" probably screwed up the ABS sensors when working on the wheels.

As soon as you have the trouble codes to post, we will probably know. Often they will point to something easy and quick to fix.

If you don't have a code reader, the codes can also be blinked out on the dash lights, no special reader required. Both methods are well covered in lots of posts you can find here.

No the local mechanic, not sure if he did anything because those lights were on even before the bearings were changed. Let me try reading the codes - blink out method and see what it shows.

Details are important. That is NOT what you first said.

Telling the whole story is important.

I doubt that this is something you will be able to fix yourself.

With the vehicle ready, plug the OBD2 reader in the OBD2 port under the steering wheel/dash area, it might offer some codes (DTCs) or it might be useless for this application. Most likely you'll have to navigate the reader UI to make it retrieve the codes. Please post results here.

For troubleshooting and diagnosing, many prefer using a 'mini-vci' cable and a copy of techstream (dealer level tech software), or for a less technical option you can try an OBD2 bluetooth/wifi adapter and an App like Dr. Prius, use this link to learn more about quality adapters, and which products you wouldn't want to purchase : Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus
Would be hard to say "why this is happening", or what you can do to "get rid of it" by only knowing which warning lights were displayed on the dash, once you know and share the DTCs (codes) we can offer guidance which may potentially help you in resolving the issue(s).
