    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Happen to have any OBD2 codes (DTCs) that you could share with us here?

It sounds like you had some type of brake failure.

You can check the dealer service history by running the VIN at Welcome to Toyota Owners

And you actually drove it AGAIN after that happened ???
I hope your insurance is paid up.

You should NOT drive it any more until this gets fixed.......or where you bought it lets you trade it for a different car that is not
    a DEATH TRAP.

I think Toyota needs to hear about this.
And maybe the Federal safety agencies too.

that’s pretty nutty even nuttier your still driving it.

So your saying you hear ringing sound from steering wheel then the steering wheel locks up then you have no brakes how is it you didnt crash?

How did the you get the car back home and then it just fixes itself.

If this happened it would throw lots of codes (warning lights) on the dash codes The dealer can pull to diagnosis the cars issues.

There was a steering TSB out for the G2 that included replacement of the intermediate steering shaft that was 10 years ago.

Go to Toyota.com/ owners forum and join it will ask you for the cars vin have your insurance card handy. You will then be able to see all TSBs performed on the car plus any parts replaced on the car at any authorized Toyota dealer repair centers it’s lifetime.
See if it mentions that steering TSB.
It does for my car on that forum.

    And stop driving it.

Droped of my car yesturday they called me an told me this was the problem

    Charesa
Update on your Prius. During inspection technician Found the following:1. Inverter Water pump failing due to open circuit
    2. ABS Actuator failing due to open circuit
    3. Air Fuel sensor has a short
    4. 12v Battery has low voltage
I will contact your Extended Service Contract which you purchase from Honolulu Ford to verirfy repair coverages then I will update you later today on the status.

Has does any of that lock up your steering wheel?

Those are all very very common failures on a g2 Prius.

That abs actuator failure is very very expensive the inverter pump at the dealer is 500-700
Needs a new 12 volt battery I would bet you jumped it a few times so no surprise there that’s 300
Air fuel sensor not sure maybe 200 the abs will be $2500 to $3500.

Yes they replaced the abs covers on warranty my warrenty. Paid 3000 for 1 year.
One main repair that cost more was the inverter water pump that's under the hybrid system not electrical components?

I'm so upset my car had the best a.c. when I picked it up from the toyota service department after 2 long weeks it has no a.c.
