Service in Canada is a lot more due to labour costs.

Semi-synthetic oil change at Toyota is $54.95++. (dino oil is about $10 or $15 cheaper). It's the lowest cost that I know of. Volvo, Subaru and Honda charge closer to $70-$80 for their oil changes.

I bought the filter and gasket for $7.11 and the 6 quarts of Mobil one 0w-20 for $37. So $55 for labor isn’t too bad.

But my labor rate for this job is a bit better:).

I found this oil change to be a bit interesting when compare to a Prius change. In the filter box, they include a plastic drain spigot, which I guess you can drain the oil from as the instructions on the filter box said to do.

But I did this and still had oil in the filter housing:(.

This is problematic as the filter housing is vertical and the drip point not well defined unlike the horizontal mounted Prius filter. So I got a little oil on the garage floor:confused:.

Now I need to fork over $15 to Toyota techinfo to see where the fill plug is on the front transaxle as I fear it is behind the drivers front wheel requiring removal:mad:.

But the rear transaxle will be a breeze at least (y).

Got the front transaxle and rear transaxle fluid drain and fill done today on the wife’s 2017 RX450h with 7k miles on it :).

The front was a bit of a challenge to access the fill bolt as you have to go through the drivers side front wheel well to access:cool: 2B3FDF2C-08B7-485B-AF72-A2E63F859F8D.jpeg

The drain bolt wasn’t hard to access and the RX has just enough clearance so no jacks or lift required 6E3FD904-8DA3-4FBD-AB9C-2132C23B155F.jpeg

The fluid wasn’t red but a tint of purple 484F6515-7A34-4948-9D37-731C45073DD8.jpeg . The repair manual says 5.1 quarts but got out a little over 4 quarts and that’s what went back in;).

The rear transaxle is very similar to the Prius in regards to drain and fill bolt location. Fill bolt: 62011434-9DA2-46A8-BE65-80CB785ECFD8.jpeg and drain bolt: 72551BBF-75ED-4674-8E6C-924AD42B9F92.jpeg
Fluid also was a shade of purple 5257B6B0-319C-4876-B3BE-496D01F8B01B.jpeg and was close to the repair manual recommended 1.9 quarts:).

Some particulate after each drain, so time well spent early on in the life of the RX (y).

Plans to add an OCC in the RX450h?:D

I got my wife a 2018 Sienna couple weeks back, was searching earlier on PCV location and stuff, found both vehicles have similar gas engines, 2GR-FXS for your RX450h, 2GR-FKS for my Sienna (RX350 uses very same engine with Sienna), with direct (and port) injections and EGR operations. I couldn't really find anything online, perhaps this engine hasnt been seasoned into any repair write up in YouTube, message boards, repair sites yet, SiennaChat is very quiet compare to PriusChat, thus I am wondering if you had looked into this matter or there's no need of OCC whatsoever for this new RX of yours?

Details are bit sparse for the RX as well:(.

Over at Club Lexus in the 4th Gen RX section there aren’t many helpful, mostly “have you gone to the dealer”.

So I spent $15 and downloaded the complete repair manual for the RX450h :).

So I’ll be investigating once the boss allows(y).

Finally have the time to take a look of the van today ;), saw the PCV valve location and return tube for the front bank of this 2GR engine, and there is a separate rear bank ventilation tube (without PCV valve) that goes into air intake BEFORE the throttle body. Wondering if your hybrid version of this 2GR would look the same. Please see images. IMG_6645.JPG IMG_6646.JPG

With this 2GR-FKS the PCV valve is at the top of the valve cover with what looks like a very good buffle, is oil in the intake system something of a concern? If I am to install oil catch can to protect the whole air intake system, do I need to install 2 catch cans? But then I don't see anyone installing 2 catch cans for our Gen 3 though:LOL:. IMG_5937.JPG Image from last year's install meet when OCC was freshly installed, that shows another vent tube from valve cover to air intake.

Got an oil change at the 12 month mark today and met @Pedal Logic for breakfast :).

    9100 miles so close to 10 k;).

Saw this while I was there:

    After:

Subtle but will do very well with heat rejection ;).

Now just wait 5 days for it to completely cure(y).

Looks a bit dark to be street legal?:p J/k. But then, I see folks going Limo tints (is it called 5%) on the front windows without problems.

The Honda Odyssey that was replaced by my Sienna has a light tint all around even on the factory privacy glass, it was done by the previously owner. I liked it, and wanted to do a light tint on all the windows just like our old van. Where is the place you did the tint? Are you happy with them? And how much was it?

I have a guy that I work with that has 5% all around except 20% on the windshield .

At night he has to roll down his windows to see out of them:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.

He’s had to “untint” them 3 times but each time it is a fix it ticket:whistle:.

But we have a relative if it ever got to that(y).

Just got our RX450h back after the wife hit this on the freeway:

    B362882C-70F5-411F-90AA-5151CC701CA1.jpeg

It did this to the grill:

    7C70BDD3-3084-4DCE-82A5-4CF32A291D0C.jpeg

Then we got it back and the protective film was less than adequately reapplied to the new bumper:

The wife is happy to be back in her car though (y).

I've got 15 strips in the pack :).

So I could wait that long:whistle:.

Or I could use the strips every other year and still be good ;).

But I'll use the data to help make the swap the fluid decision (y).
