EV travel remains a work in progress. I still face the Fort Smith gap but I've used two, L2 charging options. Either an overnight in Russellville AR or a 2-3 hour stop at Ozark AR depending on weather and fatigue.

I'm surprised that I-40, being a major coast to coast route, still has that big of a gap. Holes planned to be filled this year. We'll see.

I'm 98% certain on my future Tesla ownership, but I'm not sure on when to pull that trigger. It's not just "my" expectations that I'm managing. I certain she'll love full EV and take it from me once we get one. ;)

PS, I've been told it's a "thinking person's" vehicle. I want to pull the trigger while I'm still capable of "thinking".

Actually you only need a free, Tesla account. You'll also get a referral code and access to Tesla pages including their SuperCharger map and suggestion form:
    Find Us | Tesla

I wonder if a referral code could be use by a spouse?

But I was going to use yours!

I can already see those pages without registering. Forums included.

Good question. I now have one.

On the Tesla Account page regarding the referral program, it says

    "Cars
You and anyone using your referral link can each earn 1,000 miles of free Supercharging with the purchase of a new Tesla car. Each car referral also gives you a chance to win a Model Y monthly or Roadster supercar quarterly. Owners who already have free Supercharging get two chances to win."

It looks to me like that wording includes myself. So when I order, I could use my own code?

I'll weigh in quick as someone that lives in the great white north (even though my location says Nebraska):
With sub zero temps in the winter combined with big gaps in the Supercharger network I still have to hold on to my PiP until those gaps get closed or we buy a 350+ mile Tesla. No problems at all during the other 3 seasons, but it can get a bit sketchy in the winter. Would love to sell the PiP as I'm currently looking for a use for it most of the time.

That being said, there should always be a place for 100-200 mile EV's. They work wonderful as a second vehicle for a family or even an only vehicle for a single person that doesn't mind renting for road trips. Really no point in most households having two 300+ mile EV's.

yea - having seen the Fort Smith supercharger location date posted on Tesla's sight since 2015, then getting changed ... one figures out that, "coming in year X" means squat, until you can actually look up the website to see that a construction permit has finally been pulled. Sorry - I forget where that website is though. Ergo, for what ever inexplicable reason - don't put too much stock in that location any time soon. I drove through that intersection just maybe a couple months ago. Talked to the closest owner of that corner & he said he didn't know anything about it. It's really off the beaten path too - when it comes to being close to I-40 .... maybe 15 minutes each way.
    Maybe that town is cursed.

I've written Tesla (as have tons of folks) & said we won't be buying our 3rd Tesla until that location has a supercharger. We drive just north of the town, to visit my father-in-law in Van Buren. I was extra motivated to make the drive from Cali last time - as he was gifting me a Mini-14, which avoided a lot of paperwork (wink wink) - as well as stupid California gun rules. My father-in-law, a Korean war army vet, is in excellent health at age 89 - & I hope he outlives the wait for a charging station there to come first.

Ah, that explains a lot. Being new to the full tilt Tesla research mode (Padawan Learner) , I was unaware of that sliding date target. Sounds like a really poor location choice being that far off I-40. Not sure what all the different motivations and real momentum movers are for specific supercharger locations.

He sounds like my Dad that I lost last year at the age of 96. He was still doing 2 miles daily on his treadmill 3 months before he died. These WWII guys just keep on going and hopefully your father-in-law will too.

    Mini-14 eh. That wouldn't be the full auto AC-556 version . . . . .:D

Woo ho, they have an SC under construction in Ozark, AR. Finally bridging that Arkansas gap.

    From TMC
There is a Supercharger under construction near the junction of I-40 and AR-23. As of August 14, a section of the parking lot for the Workman’s Travel Center was fenced off near the east side of the building, and some concrete formwork and buried conduit was present. Several crates of Tesla equipment were within the fenced area. I did not take any pictures or hang around long enough to estimate the number of stalls as there was at least one person working on the site and I did not want to bother them.

    The location is 35.5238 N, 93.8636 W. . . . . .

distances are 145 mi to Catoosa, 85 mi to Lowell, 126 mi to Little Rock,
(223 mi to OKC and 230 from my house) :p

    Also supercharger.info

Users on TMC from all over the country seem to be quite happy about the start to plugging this hole on I-40. S am I. One user posted a lot of pics yesterday on this thread so it's confirmed.

Love's Travel Stops is based in OKC. I know a lot of IT people that work there and some of the management. I'm going to see if I can make a pitch to management for a few charger location opportunities in Oklahoma. They are remarkably forward looking for a "truck stop" company. 520 locations in 41 states.

No I don't own a Tesla, but I'm certainly EV friendly.

    Several of the data sources work to show what's on the future location/agenda. I use one of several apps;

@Mark57 - this location is maybe 35 or 40 miles east of Van Buren, which is just North and closer to I-40 than Fort Smith. You could pretty much kiss off Fort Smith as a supercharger location if the new location is correct. There's a Love's Truck Stop nearby the new location - it is maybe a mile away. The location posted on your TMC link is maybe one mile West of Loves - at a Valero gas station. When I was with my in-laws just west of that location, in Van Buren, a couple 3 years ago, that Valero area was just being built up. Odd - that loves would be advertising their supercharger connection, only to seemingly lose it (& the accompanying Commerce) to a Valero just down the road.
