Prius runs again!!!!!

Thanks to all those that sent me valuable information and I just wanted to update everybody to let you know that the hybrid battery was changed and it has a unlimited mileage lifetime warranty on it from Green Bean battery Company and after cleaning the throttlebody out and shooting a little starting fluid in it and disconnecting the 12 V battery we finally were able to get it started and my brake lines are rusted out now so I had it towed up to the repair facility that I deal with and am getting a lot of preventive maintenance done on her. Yes, it was a very expensive lesson to learn. The gentleman that changed the hybrid battery (with assistance from his young daughter I might add) had his own scan tool and at first we weren’t sure if it was going to start. After clearing one of the codes, the car just wouldn’t start even though it was gone. He said he could only try it one more time and then it will deplete the charge on the HV battery. Our last hope was to clean the throttlebody and we shot a little bit of starting fluid down and it finally fired right up! When I first called the company and I talk to the person there, he was telling me that with this COVID-19 pandemic, it has caused a lot of problems for a Prius owners because they aren’t driving their vehicles and they’re letting them sit and then when they do come out to drive it, the HV battery is toast because they don’t like to sit. So, a word of wisdom, drive your vehicle and I was surprised because I had to fight and try to get a jack underneath that car with both right side tire is flat and it’s sitting uneven. The left side of the vehicle was on the driveway and the right side was on the gravel and I even went out and bought a trolley Jack and even it wouldn’t go up underneath there. I actually had to take my floor jack and I know it’s not safe to do this, but I jacked up by the shipping hook on the right rear high enough to where I can get the trolley Jack on the side of the vehicle. To my surprise, the rims one bent and here I thought To my surprise, the rims one vent and here I thought I bend them when I hit that pot hole. The tires them selves or dry rotted. According to the tire manufacturer’s or whoever it is, they state that tire life is only six years regardless of mileage because of the breakdown and they use the illustration of what happens to a rubber band over time and it eventually basically dry rots so that it just breaks. Hope that helps anyone else.

 

I just received a phone call from the repair facility that I deal with and they said this is more complicated than what they can handle and they can’t get parts for it. The last thing that I want to do is take this to the dealer because they’re going to charge me up the wahzoo! Anybody know a technician around the Lapeer, Michigan area that I could get to repair it?

Apparently the brake lines are okay, but there is a problem with the hydraulic system so I found a Hybrid repair facility to get that addressed as well as the HVAC System. They changed the system but there is I believe a fault code for it as well as the hydraulic braking system. The technician actually drove the car home for me and after I took him back and came back home, I took the car out for a drive around the block and around the block here is like 5 miles because I live in a rural area. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor but it will eventually stop the vehicle. So, until I’m able to take it in I will just be driving it around the block just to keep the hybrid battery charged.
