Well it is an MPV... in Europe :D. Theirs tend to be smaller than ours.

Yes. It's brand new for the 2021 model year and is only available in hybrid form with a 2.5 litre HSD system (similar to Highlander/Kluger). AWD-e is optional. 7 or 8 passenger seating.

Sounds like an excellent solution. I did actually look for it (google "hybrid Sienna" and got zilch). Makes me wonder why they didn't do this sooner.
I do have a theory about this and it involves all nations in the world having a straw to share a nice milkshake and the americans sucking the hardest because they want to win and feel entitled to it... But this would not be nice to all you fellow Prius and hybrid drivers that make up (imho) the more informed/wordly part of the US and who am I to throw the first stone... It is not like I am free of sin coming from a country that is not that much better (we tax everything to death and people still do it (drive, smoke, etc)) and made part of its former wealth from slavery and the rest from taking what wasn't theirs. But I digress...

Neighbour just bought a hybrid Rav4 less that 2 years after buying his previous non-hybrid version after getting a trade-in deal he supposedly couldn't refuse. I am pretty sure he's never going back ;)

Part of it is also not getting the fuel consumption that Toyota wanted to make the upcharge worth it to the consumer. Prior, the 2.4 litre HSD from the first gen Camry would not have enough power or mpg because of the added weight of the minivan. Using the 3.5 litre V6 HSD from the Highlander/RXh would provide power but not the improved fuel economy.

Clearly now Toyota has improved the hybrid ayante (electric motors, inverter, battery and overall system cost reduction) to provide the torque, minimal weight gain and fuel economy) to make it worth offering it on a heavy vehicle such as the Sienna. Note that the Highlander Hybrid dropped the 3.5 litre V6 for the 2.5 litre for this new generation. The power has dropped but the fuel economy gain is significant. I suspect torque isn’t affected as greatly as hp but since Toyota doesn’t give total system torque figures, it’s only an educated guess.

The current crop of Toyota hybrid systems appear to be able to deliver fuel economy greater than EPA ratings, especially in warmer months. The Gen 4 Prius in the high 3s/low 4s L/100km, RAV4 Hybrid in the low-mid 4s and Camry Hybrid in the low to mid 4s (except @CamryDriver who is incredibly in the high 3s L/100km).

    The more I read...
    Quiet, Please!

For customers who seek premium experiences in a vehicle, keeping unwanted noise out is paramount. The 2021 Venza provides a surprisingly quiet cabin experience. Rather than simply aiming at a “numbers” goal for sound level (decibels), Toyota engineers created a calm atmosphere conducive to enjoying easy conversation or hearing music in cleaner detail.

The high-strength TNGA-K platform is the first defense against noise intrusion, curbing vibration through the steering, floor and structure. Suspension tuning resists road surface disturbances, tire noise is reduced via strategically placed insulation, and an acoustic glass windshield helps minimize wind noise.

That’s just the beginning. Sound-blocking and absorbing insulation and body sealing material are placed throughout the structure, under the carpeting, and above the headliner. The materials and their placement were optimized to minimize noise in the frequencies that typically interfere with conversation.

As one example, the floor silencer pad is one large piece rather than separate segments. As a result, surface coverage reaches about 92 percent. Holes and gaps between parts are filled in with sound-damping material for greater road noise reduction.

Under the hood, sound-absorbing insulation around the engine compartment helps reduce intake noise, helped by the placement of two special resonance chambers that help minimize air intake noise in the 530Hz and 650Hz ranges.

Regen Control & Prius v like Pitch and Bounce Control

Using a sequential shifting feature, the driver can “downshift” to increase the regenerative braking in steps, which fosters greater control when driving in hilly areas, for example. As a bonus, the hybrid system enhances ride comfort by finely controlling the drive torque to suppress pitch under acceleration and deceleration.

    More Power and Lithium Battery

The new-generation Toyota Hybrid System in the Venza combines a high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with three electric motors in a highly compact system. The gas engine employs Variable Valve Timing-intelligent system by Electric motor (VVT-iE) on the intake camshaft, and VVT-i on the exhaust camshaft. A variable cooling system (electric water pump, electric thermostat) and a fully variable oil pump further help improve engine efficiency.

The proven tech seamlessly delivers 219 total system horsepower and a projected preliminary manufacturer-estimated 40 combined MPG in LE trim. As with all Toyota hybrids, the feeling of everyday acceleration and responsiveness is heightened by the way the electric motor boosts low-speed torque. The hybrid system optimizes the level of electric motor assistance and gas engine RPM without the engine running at high revs. Engine speed is synchronized with vehicle speed, yielding effortless and quiet acceleration. Venza’s hybrid system adopts a newly-developed lithium-ion battery to enhance performance and size and weight.

I tried to put them in yesterday in one post but kept getting 4 of each pic so I just deleted them.
After riding in the Ford GT the v felt pretty bad...... go-cart/ish
Unbelievable sound when he punched it especially with the engine behind you.....
The Spoiler is motor driven i could see it going up and down depending how fast we were going.

    That's a nice car. Also, you can't compare a supercar to a v

I can buy a Venza on payments for what that GT would cost to insure, much less buy. And I am sure the Venza will be a much better car to drive on our suspect Texas roads at 100f. If I wanted to burn money I think I would buy a high end Tesla and dust that GT (at least 0.7 seconds better 0-60). Yes, the GT would beat it on the F1 track outside of Austin but track day is low on my priority list.

The guy has 3 of them. Original, gen 2 and now this one..............
There is a place I believe in Wisconsin that these guys take the cars to and they go through the motor and suspension. I have see this guy and his other GT buddies loading the cars in trailers and taking them there. 2 cars per enclosed trailer.... I think the mods are $65,000 and up.....

    Cool car...

I saw one of these last week (Porsche Taycan):
Syphoning electricity from a holiday home in a car-free holiday parc... :ROFLMAO:
200,000 euro (*) and the owner still needs to break the rules (parking in a car free park) and 'steal' electricity to run it.
    0-100km/h (which equates to 0-62mph I think) in 2.8sec.

EDIT: found this, but the Ludicrous version probably makes miced meat out of these numbers (although the 0-250km/h (155mph) time is impressive, probably due to having 2 gears instead of just one):

(*) Prices in Netherlands are often much higher due to an extra tax on cars, but for electric cars this may be limited.

What is a "car free park"?

Center Parcs, Europeans might know what I mean. I linked the UK site (English) but I was in Germany.

They are holiday cottages that you rent for e.g. a week. There's a few 100 of those cottages in a nice location (nature, like forests or mountainous terrain) and include a kind of waterpark.
The entire 'compound' is often closed off for cars (apart from bringing your shit on the first day and loading it back in your car the last day) so kids can run outside without the risk of being run over.

I've seen a Taycan 4S and a Taycan Turbo (both times I had to look at the badge. Only the 4S had the base wheels. The Turbo had upgraded wheels).

Back to the subject, the new hybrid Venza. Saw one parked in my neighborhood a couple of days ago. Nice. Parked my v next to it and found the Venza to be a bigger car, specifically taller and a tad longer. It was a Limited model with an absolutely beautiful interior a Lexus owner would be proud of. The back looks like a Lincoln while the front has a bit of a Honda vibe.
