Replaced my drum brakes, noticed there was a small leak coming out of the cylinder boot when i move the piston around. Leaks slowly and comes to a stop when left alone. The foot brake is tighter than before and holds car on slope parked fine, also pressing the brake pedal locks up the drum wheel just fine. Should i leave it alone or do i need to change the boot or cylinder?

If the cylinder is leaking, changing the dust boot won't stop it; you'd need to push the pistons out and change their rubber cups (perhaps hitting the cylinder with a hone if it looks like it needs it).

You can get the rubber kit for $34.60 list, perhaps $24 really, contains four cups, four dust boots, two bleeder caps, enough to redo both rears (or one and keep spares for when the other needs it).

When you change shoes it is likely that you moved the rubber cups over corrosion and gunk that they hadn't encountered before and that can cause them to start leaking. I usually put in a rebuild kit or change the cylinders when I change shoes if they were in service for a long time as is likely with a Prius. You will need to bleed the system if you open it so it's always tempting to skip wheel cylinder repair but it's probably time to service them rather than risk having to go back in again in a few weeks or months.

thanks for the opinion guys, looks like ill keep an eye out for the leak if it gets bad ill change it asap. But looks like regardless if i change just the rubber rings or the whole cylinders, ill have to get techstream going.
