So, got back from the mountains earlier this weekend and was bumming around online. Our local Pull-a-Part showed as having received a 2007 Prius the day I left on vacation. Figures.... With nothing much better to do today, I figured I'd go check it out to see if there was anything left on it. Ended up being a higher level 2007 almost intact with no accident damage. Hmm, wonder why it was here. I think I solved that question a bit later.

    Items I pulled off:
    1. the steering wheel (leather model) with all button controls, clock spring and all switches. Wouldn't sell me the airbag though.
    2. three of the four AC vents were perfect and went into the purchase pile.
    3. all dash buttons and switches + key slot (didn't feel like messing with combo meter)
    4. seven button MFD 47220 model
    5. steering control module, just because it was there
    6. HID headlights (just need a bit of cleanup/polishing)
    7. Fusible link from underhood fuse box
    8. Fuse box cover, oil cap, brake reservoir cap, gas cap
    9. ABS assembly
    10. Didn't feel like buying another inverter, so placed it inside the trunk area and covered it to keep it in good shape for someone else
Now here's the box of chocolates:

A photo of the upper right corner of the underhood fuse box...anyone see a problem? From top to bottom, should be 15A, 15A, 10A and 20A fuses. Car must have something funny going on...who knows. By the way, 30 amp fuses probably shouldn't be used for everything, lol.

Anyway, I decided to pull the inverter off and remove the ABS assembly. I try to remove things as cleanly as possible when I can. After removing all the upper interference items and pulling the cover off the inverter, I thought to myself, why are fasteners for the 3 phase cables so loose? Kinda weird....then I finished removing the inverter and placed it into the trunk area of the car.

Now there was clear view of the ABS assembly. Huh...it has salvage yard paint markings on it already. I guess it was recently replaced by the previous owner. Now we know why the car was salvaged. Some poor SOAG paid to have the ABS assembly replaced (they did a good, clean job on that), except the knuckleheads forgot to tighten the fasteners on the 3 phase cable terminals when they put the inverter back in. I bet that owner was having a heck of a time with the car coding out...........

There's a lesson to be learned here, somewhere.

I bought my '08 ex taxi Prius mega cheap (well for Australian prices anyway) because they thought the timing chain had stretched beyond its limits. We drove it for quite a bit until the problem noise became excessive. My own fault for not diagnosing the problem myself but rather taking their word for it, I replaced the timing chain, still the same noise problem. Turned out to be a blocked catastrophic converter and the exhaust flange bouncing on the exhaust manifold as the springs allowed the pressure to release. add a new fuel filter (they are replacement items on the Australian build) that probably caused the problem in the first place due to a lean run condition, and it has run faultless since.
Insured value would be around $8,500, I bought it for less than $2,000. Mind you, if they actually saw it with its taxi orange enamel paint over the original metallic green and/or the 740,000km on the clock, I might get the replacement price adjusted

Any chance you can show us a pic of where they locate the fuel filter on the Australian prius? It's my understanding that in Gen2 Prius in US the filter is inside gas tank, but I'm not certain? I'd love to learn more.

This is a link Fuel Filters for Toyota Prius for sale | Shop with Afterpay | eBay to an evilbay replacement filter seller list so you can see what it looks like and a videohttps://
of the slowest mechanic I've ever seen replacing one .... skip through to the 6:56 sec mark to see when the cameraman even lost patience and cut to where this guy is fitting the new filter, no idea how long it actually took him to discover how to get the filter stripped out, but he sure wouldn't be working in my shop after seeing this
I believe I read on here some where that the Canadian Prius fuel tank has the replacement type filter rather than the bladder system the US version has, why did they go with the bladder tank?

Works better if I actually put the links in eh  After the 3rd attempt, it appears I can't get the filter link to work, maybe because it is an evilbay site and they are blocked here ....
