    Some people are just jerks...
And the only stupid questions are the ones NOT asked!

    I'm not bashing anyone.
And I am not being harsh.

HE finally said, a while back, the price would be around $1600.
BUT, you would have to BUY(few hundred?) the equipment if you wanted better fuel miles and long life from the battery.
Which he said was a few mpg.
He just said the weight of the batteries was less, but the wiring would add more weight,
which would be the same as original?

According to HIM, and all HE has stated, I see NO advantage to buying his batteries.
But, he has NO idea how much it's going to cost?
That is not a good business practice.

Estimate would be nice. But he has already stated that.

If they were $12-1300.00 and they equalled the OEM, then it would be worth it.

And I DO hope he can pull it off and come up with a better battery, a lot less weight, more MPG and life,
    for a much better price!!!!

For you he'll probably offer it for $3,000. ;)

But seriously, the price of the raw materials, what the Chinese are willing to charge him, tarriffs and currency exchanges are serious practical things that influence the final price. Our US dollar has dropped compared with other currencies (thank you debt/GDP and the fed QE machine). Prices of minerals have actually gone up (weird in a recession) due to miners contracting COVID-19 in mines and then slowing/halting the extraction.

Don't care how much the price of rice is in china.
    The US Dollar is strong...
Perhaps he should start a business in American for making batteries.
Keep the unions out, and the price could be lower...

ASR I think you need to start your own thread.

Places that put up front pricing years before product tend to be Elio motors or Aptera.

I would just let jack work and be thankful if and when the product arrives.

If your hoping to time a battery replacement your probably out of luck

I just re-read the entire thread. I don't see this.

I think you misread what he wrote. My reading is that the extra material brings it up to 50%. See below:

over the past couple weeks here in SoCal we had several days in the 100's. And it was high humidity. But once it's in the 100's? And dry? We'll joke, "at LEAST it's a dry heat" .... then we laugh - because at that junction it's so stinkin' scalding - that it hardly matters. At least the Prius battery isn't complaining, it's just losing its max capacity - because it's only air-cooled, as it sits on the 150° black asphalt.

Start my own thread for what?
I'm not trying to time a battery replacement.
I'm certainly NOT reading through 125 pages, again. I seem to remember a 2nd similar thread
where he talked about price, but I could be wrong. But he said it was "around" the same price
    of "newpriusbatteries".
Perhaps I did misread about the weight. Lighter is better, but it wouldn't really increase mpg.
I see no difference in mpg when I have an extra 200-250lbs in my Prius. MAYBE 1mpg?
    But every little bit helps.
Re-read the post, I was talking about purchasing the newpriusbatteries, battery, at $1600.

I've met people that have lived in california. And they have told me there is a huge difference
between the Florida heat/humidity and there. Yes, when it's 100 degrees, IT IS HOT!
And yes the hybrid battery air cooled. But that is why you run the A/C! It should be in the 80's
inside the car so you have a lot cooler air cooling the battery.

AGAIN: And I DO hope he can pull it off and come up with a better battery, a lot less weight, more MPG and life,
    for a much better price!!!!
Competition is good for the market and the consumer because it keeps the price of product lower.

Furnace Creek in Death Valley (I believe that was the location) hit a new high this summer. That's also a verified high for the entire world.
    130°f
Then some people will tell you, "it gets hot here... too, up to 90°"
Several places in the southern parts of the United States only cool DOWN to 90° at the crack of dawn.
    LOL

Don't let the media fool you. 130° is not a new record. The current record since 1912 is 134.1°F. I've seen this myth going around lately. It is, however, the hottest verified temperature in the last 100 years. The 90° at night thing though, I can relate. Its not fun.

"The current record since 1912 is 134.1°F."

There are problems with that 1912 record. Please see this.

Why not? Everyone create their own thread even though final solution have been produce. In fact, preface your own thread by stating "I know this has been discussed many times and beaten like a dead horse but after reading all the threads about the topic, I'm even more confused..." and set your reply notification to on DING!

hey guys, just login and see all the discussion, I am grateful that @ASRDogman keep everything in check, a few things to clarify :
    1. The weight will be closer to half of the stock NiMH battery pack.
    2. The price is still being calculated but will be comparable to stock NiMH battery price, at around $2000 USD, no core exchange.
    3. The capacity of the cell will be 6500~7000mAh, the usable capacity is 80% compare to 40% of NiMH chemistry.

Don't worry, I am not going to sell a single blade if we don't pass the test, worst case scenario project cancel and life back to the way it was.
