    EEEEK - still that stupid Foot-Park-Brake.

    But - it's not a COROLLA - it's more a Mini-RAV4 - even has the same ugly, scowling front grille.
    upload_2020-9-1_8-44-38.png upload_2020-9-1_8-45-18.png

    But - looks much better than COROLLA (Hatch), it's got what looks like:
    • decent boot space;
    • good back seat space;
    • and the ability for back-seat passengers to see out the side windows.
    Maybe we don't need COROLLA WAGON after all?

    The first year the PiP made it to a local dealer, I test drove an Orange/Redish C one base whatever straight off the delivery truck. I wasn't too impressed like I might have been if I'd test driven a C 3 or 4. I saw a nice looking C 4 a few years after that initial test drive. Anyways, I was talking to the sales guy who took me out for the test and mentioned I was really interested in the plug and would be a potential customer if a C came with a plug. His response was a simple "Never"!

    I would still like to see a smaller car with a plug. A corolla plug would be nice. One day even a yaris plug.
    There's got to be a way to fit a plug pack in the smaller cars and still make some $. But maybe my thinking is so far behind what management wants to sell to make $ come hell and high water.

    One of the problems is that a plug means a bigger battery - like a lot more weight, but also less space for the bigger battery - and the smaller the vehicle, the greater the compromise - the first thing the Manufacturers think is "dump the spare wheel".

    What matters now: It needs to be able to pass a car that is passing another car while merging onto the battlefield highway, needs to have wireless carplay and 22 cupholders.

    I read the writing on the wall when I saw a corolla s in the showroom with low profile tires. 2014 ish? OEM low pros - I swear I thought of one of those bobblehead dash toys when I noticed that.

    Not sure about now - but about 20 yrs ago the MX-5 Mazda (MIATA?) had twice as many cupholders as seats.

    I wonder what the clearance is on this? I want something with slightly more clearance than my Prius v.

    The Corolla Cross looks to be worthy of my time ( if it sows up in the USA, that is ). I wondering what the pricing will be?

    I bet it's decent, and either way it's a Corolla. Something else will fit here, there and over there too. There will likely be lots of ways to go up or down, and with time we will suss out the best ways.

    I'd imagine CH-R pricing.

    Basically it's someone who wants a smaller vehicle than a RAV4 (Cause it's gotten so big now) and want something more traditional than the CH-R (and a touch larger).

    When vehicles like the “Corolla Cross” happen I think they should just drop the Corolla in the title.

    To me the vehicle presented isnt a Corolla, it’s something else

    Akin to putting F150 on a 2 door hatchback

    Could happen, at least in marketing. I remember the window sticker to our Matrix saying Corolla Matrix in smaller print.

    Yes, and on the owners manual too right?
    This Corolla Cross Hybrid looks amazing to me. I sure hope we get it here in the USA.

    Or the Toyota Corolla Horseback. I did a double take when I saw a sign for Corolla (pronounced differently) on my first time visiting the Outer Banks (NC).

    Bring it! But give it at least 150 horses and some optional "luxury" touches like cooled seats. It'll be a hit. North Americans seem to demand a little more power than people in the rest of the world.

    I've heard OBX locals pronouncing the second syllable with a RAH instead of a ROW sound, Kuh-RAH-Luh (NC) vs. Kuh-ROW-Luh (Toyota).

    I have speculated that Toyota may build the Corolla Cross at the new factory that Toyota and Mazda are building together in Alabama. That would be a good size to fit in both for Toyota and, with styling modifications, Mazda. Mazda has already said that the vehicle that they build there will be a crossover with a Toyota hybrid drive train.

    I had been thinking that the factory wouldn't open until next year but a recent article on a Huntsville TV station website says that they have already hired 1400 line workers and are holding a job fair to hire 1000 more and plan to start production "later this year"

    Should be interesting to see what they build there. However, I think Toyota has deemed the Cross 'too small' for the American market...which is unfortunate for those of us that actually like smaller vehicles!
