Battery sending power to wheels while stopped

    all. Couldn't find a thread addressing this problem. There seems to be a problem with the brake sensors on my Gen 2 Prius. The battery keeps sending power to the wheels despite having the brake pedals applied fully. It quickly discharges the battery and eats into my MPG something fierce. I have to put the Prius in Park for it to stop sending power. I have owned the Prius for 2 years now, and this is the first time I've had this problem. Has anyone else heard of this happening, and if so any solutions? It's a bit of a hassle to put the car in Park at every stoplight, then switch to Drive when the light changes.

    Stefanovich, Brake sensors don't send power, it seems like you are viewing the wrong screen ie; the energy screen, press lower left on consumption and things should return to normal. If in fact the car is trying to surge hard against the brake, do not continue to drive it. Prius move slowly in drive and reverse normally. if the car is stopped and the engine is running for a bit it will show as worst economy possible as fuel is going in and car is not moving, when the engine stops it will show 0 consumption, when the battery has enough charge. You may have a HV battery in need of a few cells if the petrol engine does not stop after a while of not moving, especially after driving for awhile which should charge the Traction Battery ( the big one ).

    When you say that the brakes are fully applied, do you mean stopped and the brakes are holding the car in place? One of the first things I noticed with my Prius was that sometimes it was sending power to the wheels even though I was stopped. I asked someone on here about it and they clued me into the fact that if I pushed on the brake pedal just a little bit more the power to the wheels would stop. I don't mean that you have to press really hard, just a little more than I normally would. If you have to really press down hard, then I'd defer to one of the experts on this site to offer a suggestion.
