How many companies out there sell new traction batteries for the Gen 2 Prius? I know I can get one at the dealer, but I dont want to pay dealer prices. What companies have you used? Is one product better than others?

Others will have more detailed answers but, in general, NOBODY sells replacement batteries with all new parts except Toyota.

The closest is a few companies that put all new battery cells into re-used "cores".

You should avoid any that "refurbish" batteries by replacing only the cells that have completely failed.

But to be clear, Toyota does sell a completely 100% new pack with new ECUs and everything but the price is a few thousand more than the standard pack from Toyota. A standard new from Toyota replacement pack is a new shell with all the battery modules (new) pre-installed along with the wiring harness and bus bars. But all the electronic goo that makes the hybrid battery work is missing. This is where you take out your old pack and transfer all that used stuff over. Once you are done, you return your old modules and shell to Toyota for your core refund. The benefit of this is that you keep your used electronics. You know they work (or not) and how they were used, etc.

NewPriusBatteries.com (me) sells brand new modules. You use your old shell, and your old electronics, but you use our new modules and bus bars and wiring harness. Again you keep your old electronics you know and love. We have no core charge so you keep your old modules too. You can sell those or keep them, whatever.

The only 4 companies in the world making new Prius modules is PrimeEarth (Toyota), Me, CEBA, and Yabo.

Everyone selling "complete batteries" sells you all the modules and electronics in a shell. This is a used shell with used electronics from an unknown source like a taxi that has been on 24/7 for 20 years. You don't know. Most of them are used or refurbished, and you don't want anything of that. There are a couple companies now selling new packs the same way which is great but they are using CEBA or Yabo modules inside.
