Can "conversations" be renamed to something else?

Every new and then, I receive private messages (aka conversations) from random new people asking me random Prius repair questions. What's worse is when they include other random members. Each reply ends up causing an email to be sent to me.

Earlier tonight, I received about 7 emails in 1 hour due to one of these. I even added a note in my sig months ago "Please don't start conversations with me for Prius troubleshooting. Instead post in the appropriate area." Obviously, it was ignored. I've amended it a bit.

Can "conversations" in this software be renamed to something else like private messages? Every time I have to explain to them they sent me a PM, I can't reply promptly and usually won't know the answer either. And, that it's best to post in the appropriate repair subarea.

The collective repair wisdom here on Priuschat is probably 1 million times more than my wisdom on the subject and likely quicker too.

Not only is it a slight nuisance, it gets in the way of person seeking an answer of receiving one quickly.
(I also sold my Prius over 1.5 years ago and was never a repair expert.)

You could always lock things down like GRA so nobody can see your profile or just turn off emails?

Good idea, but somehow I think changing the naming "Conversation" to "Private Messages" still would not prevent the occurrence of unintended communication by novice users.

It has happened to me several times, but not to the frequency that really bothers me. If you just want to prevent PM all together you could change your Contact Details settings. You can either stop accepting any conversations or limit to only from people you are following. If that is not suitable, you can leave the conversation setting, but just switch off the email notification when a new conversation message is received as shown in the Contact Details page below.

Edit: @Rmay635703 has responded before me. But his screenshot is for the phone app, mine is for PC browser.

Maybe not, but it should cut it WAY down.
I too think it is very confusing, since no other forum software I have ever seen calls it that.

Then, what if you are actually trying to send a "private message" ?
I'd bet that a lot of users won't know that is called a "conversation" here.

    I second his motion.
But seriously doubt that the owner cares what any of us thinks.

i don't see why not, but you would have to ask a mod, not us

This is in the "website questions" section.
Hopefully the mods, admins and owners all look at posts here.
