Android radio help

This is a repost of a post I recently left you. Did you not see it? Or just ignore it? It's probably your only way out of this situation:

I am quite sure there is no 'harness', per se, that will allow you to install an aftermarket HU in a JBL Prius. What there is are adapters that will allow you to retain features such as backup camera, steering wheel controls, etc. You must get the adapters that align with your HU (Android vs Apple...). Crutchfield.com sells such adapters and has good customer service. Their website has packages that will fit a given Prius model and Android/Apple application. This is set up assuming you'll buy a given HU from them, but since you already have a HU, you'll need to contact customer service directly for advice. They will get back to you by phone, and most reps are very knowledgeable. Good luck, it ain't a simple matter...(been there, done that).

 

Personally I've had a terrible experience with my Seicane radio. I was so excited to install it, but the advertised features didn't even work! I couldn't map steering wheel controls, and my AM didn't work, also FM had static which the stock radio didn't do. I don't even have a JBL package in my Prius yet the radio wouldn't work right. Oh and I can't forget the fact that I had to modify (cut) the radio for the bracket to work on it. I was about to modify the bracket but thankfully I didn't, otherwise I would have to replace it when reinstalling my stock radio. You can see in the picture how it doesn't work.

 

There IS no harness that will mate ANY aftermarket HU with a JBL unit. None. I suggest you sell the Seicane for whatever you can get and then go to Crutchfield and start over. Select one of their HUs and get the adapters that go with it.

 

Left the stock radio in. I didn’t return it because if I remember correctly they wanted me to pay for the return shipping. I guess that’s what I get for cheaping out. There is one on Amazon I’ve been eyeing, but haven’t purchased yet.

 

How was the fit of your radio? Did you need to modify it to work with the bracket? And also was the harness completely different? Just trying to figure out if they updated the design or fixed the radios.

FWIW

1. Years ago the Ottonavi unit, still listed in a sticky thread, had JBL support built in to the HU. You just needed to use a different harness.
2. At one time Seicane was selling units with fake Android 9. It was really android 8. A few people who complained got 75% refund. Seller rather refund almost all the money rather then have to pay return shipping and give a full refund.
3. Almost all the China HU sell a canbus cable combo which lets you use JBL amp, still plug n play.

I uploaded a picture of one. You need to make sure the cable included is the correct one for your car and the canbus adapter is the correct one for your HU

 

Ok. I also got myself a 9 inch lcd. There seems to be one issue. Mine is RHD and there is a clip in the marked location of ur puc which isnt letting the frame snug in. Any ideas?

Hey just curious what harness was used that worked for your HU, and do you have full SWC and backup camera working? I think I have the same Seicane Android HU and whatever harness it came with does not work with anything other than the factory speakers and the RCA outs for aftermarket add ons. I am also in CA, so I would love to know what stereo guy you went to that was able to get it to work. Thanks!
