The biggest problem in California is the housing prices, which makes 99% of the people poor, as they spend all their money on the rent or mortgage. I get jealous of people living in the other states, where they can easily afford big houses and multiple cars. Higher and ever-going-higher taxes don't help.

 

So, will the 2022 model year, which should be out next August, be a redesign for Prius Prime?

 

But 2021 is the last year of the six-year period of the Gen 4. The Gen 5 Prius will be offered as the model-year 2022, correct? It's true that the Gen 5 Prius Prime will likely wait until the model-year 2023 like the Gen 4 Prius Prime that waited for a year after the Gen 4 Prius debut. Then we are looking at two years until around August 2022 before the next Prius Prime will be available, hopefully with twice or more the EV range and 10%+ higher gas mileage.

That means I can get more than that for a 2020 with 10k miles... Wow. Higher than I thought.

 

I'd hope so. As with all things, location, condition, etc. COVID-19 has made the used car market pretty hot.

It's been all over our broadcast news for weeks.

 

I just sold my Pacifica Hybrid through Carvana and it was an easy process indeed. Once I agree on their trade in price, I uploaded my title, driver's license, and odometer reading. After less than 24 hours, I was approved and it let me make an appointment to either drop the car off or they pick it up. I chose to let them pick it up. They come and gave me a few documents to sign, get the title and keys, and gave me a check. They take pictures of my car and put the keys in a lockbox on the window. A few hours later a tow truck came to get my car.

 

I haven't used them yet, but everyone seems to have the same great process from Carvana. Much easier and faster then Vroom, and no physical visit required like Carmax.

Oddly, when I used the Carvana web site, it kept telling me I was out of market (too far). I live only 5 miles from their elevator kiosk. I'll cross that road later. Their phone wait times were hours long.

 

I've sold my 2017 Prime Adv. to Carvana. 38,489 miles, perfect condition, $22,768.00. Great price at about $2,000 higher than the next best offer.

As I mentioned in a different thread, I could have waited but, I'm having a total right hip replacement on Monday so I won't be able to drive anything for quite a while. I had planned to sell it later anyway to move to a Tesla Model 3 LR AWD. While I was recovering, I'd have to maintain the 12V battery, it will need a oil change in a couple hundred miles, the end of quarter price right now is very high, the car tag is due soon, and it's still under 40,000 miles, and the gas tank is nearly empty. It also still has the original Toyo Nano tires with good tread (39,489 miles) but I'd need to replace them in 2021 sometime. It was a good time to do it. Why wait an let it just sit there getting older and less valuable.

It's been a WONDERFUL car. I've had a blast pushing the limits and finding what it could do just like I did on my 2010 Prius II.

Note about Carvana. I live only 5 miles from one of their "vending machines". As noted in the previous post, my zip code kept showing that it was "out of market" yet it did recognize I was only 5 miles away. So I called and learned that for a pickup, you have to be within a 50 mile radius of a "hub" and the vending machine is not a hub. OK, I'm only 15 from their hub but my zip was still out of market. It seems that their pickup radius is not a perfect circle from the hub. It's more like putting your hand on the map with your fingers spread out. They'll pick it up if you live under one of those fingers, not from the areas in the space in between. I only had to drive 4 miles to meet them in an area they approve. Five minutes, check in hand and done.

Yes, I'll still be participating here just like always.

 

Same as mine when I sold my 2018 Prime Plus with 48k miles, it needs tires and registration is due in few weeks.

 

I would have said the ash tray was full, but it doesn't have one and I don't smoke.
