iirc there's only one plug-in car that combines quick charging ... should folks want - on those seldom multi Hundred Mile trips. That is the Mitsubishi Outlander. There's rumors that it's new iteration is supposed to have a lot more efficient ICE then the first edition.
. . . . Not that any of this has anything to do with the OP's title - comparing style of a Tesla vs Mirai .... as subjective as that is.

All the new station going in are extremely reliable, and fast.

    Why by a Tesla then??

Sure seems like a lot of Tesla’s are headed to a Supercharger with long lines in my area.

When the 2021 Mirai comes to market it will make the Model 3 and Y look cheap in comparison. Unless you like the Minimalist look.

OMG USE THE +QUOTE FEATURE!! (so many posts to merge.... )

Or, just rent something for that 1%, if one doesn't have the time. I needed a truck once, so did I go out and buy one? No, I rented it and when I was done, I turned it in. ;)

    1%?

24% of the driving I've done on my Prime was on trips that included at least one leg that couldn't have been done by any EV at the time I took them, or now.

there may be many reasons. Never having to stop to refuel anywhere, at least 99+% of the time - for most drivers, that charge at home and or work. What was nice for us is charging off our PV solar meant the charging was for free (fully amortized), at least most of the time.

How many people have daily drives beyond the range of a BEV?

Stopping at a station to refuel with any energy source is a delay. Hydrogen cars increase the time it has to be done to comparable gasoline ones, and only plug in cars can eliminate it for daily driving.

How many have been strain tested by filling cars one after the other for an extended period. Like many gas stations see day in and day out.

Comments here about long fill times and the reliability of the stations are because of what has happened at hydrogen stations.
If you don't want to go to a station for fuel for most of your driving, and don't mind taking more time on long trips, why not?
That is seeing the trees for the forest.

There are lines is because Teslas are a popular and successful car brand, and your Supercharge station is along a route many users are using, just like lines can form at gas stations. Tesla should expand in the chargers in that area, and they probably have plans to do so.

The only issue is with older models abusing the free Supercharger use that Tesla used as an early incentive. Perhaps they should have handed out $15k fuel cards instead. That would keep a Model 3 going for over 200k miles though.
How will being pretty sell the car where there is no hydrogen?

Congrats, you are in a minority. When can you use hydrogen for those trips?

Just some Tesla facts and data:
    • 15-25 minute Supercharger - when going cross country, charge just enough with a 30-40 mile reserve to reach the next SuperCharger, 120-180 miles away, 2-3 hours drive away.
    • 100% charge - only at home or at a motel with free breakfast and L2 charging ... sleep on it.
    • charging options - 16,103 Supercharger lanes at 1025 location; +20,000 J1772; +5,000 NEMA 14-50, and; +50,000 NEMA 5-15
    • Tesla makes the cars, Superchargers, and maintains everything.

Just some hydrogen fuel cell facts and data:
    • No way to drive coast-to-coast
    • Hydrogen stations are 3d party operated
    • After "free" curtesy card, 3x the cost of gasoline
    • No home or motel fill up
    As Elon said, "Fool cells."

No wait, our n=1 says BEVs are by far the best. We can drive everywhere we want with our BEVs. Have saved dozens of hours of wasted refueling time since we gave up ICE.

Since we are basing things on personal n=1, lets stop manufacturing and selling everything besides BEVs, right now!:D

And if, as happened to me last year, the road you planned to drive on is closed due to a forest fire and you have to take a 200 mile diversion on a route without chargers?

Musk has complete control over your Tesla. You pay $50k for a car yet do you really own it? Your at his mercy on how your car is used. Does not sound like freedom to me. For now I”ll enjoy my Mirai and if needed to go out of state I will fly and rent a car, like most people who travel.

I don’t buy cars based on what happens to you.
In 35 years of driving I have never had a 200 mile detour.

Not sure who this is in reference to. I paid $38k brand new for my Tesla before incentives. That's less than most of my neighbors paid for their ICE trucks (which they use 99% to commute).

Most people do not enjoy their wasted hours doing refueling. If you do, guess that means everyone does.

Who drives coast to coast for a vacation? Fly like most people.

Superchargers are controlled by one, Musk and who knows what the future will hold. This man changes Tesla ways on a daily basis.

Don’t need or care about home or hotel charging.

    Only fools call others fools.

You are one of the few who bought a $35k version.

What cave do you live in? Go on the Tesla boards. They are numerous.

It’s part of owning a vehicle, I don’t feel like I waste anytime because less than 5 minutes is not gonna ruin my day.

Not in Orange County. You gotta pay to play or look the part.

Again, it's not 5 minutes and it's not your n=1. Again, it's the average detour the average person makes to get to the refueling stop and the stop time itself, then add this up over the years. Yes, dozens of wasted hours.
    Wrong again.

How many times have you filed up at a Hydrogen station?

No, it's part of owning the wrong vehicle.

Same number of times I've changed my horse and buggy.
