Just earlier this week I noticed a burning wire smell coming from under the dash when I turned the switch on (not pressing the brake). Has anyone experienced this before? It seems to be coming from between the instrument cluster and the steering column. I pulled the dash and it is not the instrument cluster. The 12v positive lead gets warm so I know it is a short but I'm assuming it is not fused where ever it is. My plan is to get a thermal camera this evening from a buddy and reproduce the conditions and look for hot/warm wires since the dash is still disassembled.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

Most common is the inverter coolant pump under the hood on the drivers side, but your issue could be otherwise.

Please post what you find, how you fixed it, and any pictures if possible.
