NutzAboutBolts didn't seem to mention if there was a specific order to bleed brakes in. Is there?

    Thanks,

The sequence of bleeding with Techstream is RR, RL, FL, FR

10 ft is long for bleeding brakes that are close to you at arms reach.

Mendel says in an earlier post:

"The prescribed order in the Repair Manual (and not sure if it matters, fwiw) is: FrontRight, FrontLeft, RearLeft and RearRight."

So perhaps it doesn't matter. Always did in my experience doing conventional old school brakes tho.

Yes, it's a 2010 :D. I did it in the order rjparker said. Doing the rears first saved a lot of time. The brake pump was able to pump out all the old fluid fairly fast. Siphoned out of the reservoir, topped off with new fluid, bled rear right for quite a while, had to top it off again, then right left about half that. It took forever to flush the fronts. Probably 5-10 minutes each and I had help. When we got the fluid in the jug, it looked fairly brown, almost like new motor oil. I went through 1 and a half 32OZ of brake fluid... I used some autozone fluid that met the standards listed in the manual. It was clear like water.

I also put new front pads on, it feels different so far. All of the slide pins were lubed well, as well. I was having issues with the brakes stopping too much then not enough and was essentially pumping the brakes trying to come to a smooth stop. But it would happen intermittent, so I will find out in the next week if it's helped.

I originally wanted to just change oil, then thought I should try to flush out the brakes and then clean the slide pins to try and fix that braking problem described above. Checking pads and running out of brake fluid, it was decided to buy pads for the front. On Wednesday I got a flat, in the sidewall. I hate these old tires so I'm looking to get all new tires. Hopefully after all of that all I will need is just oil and filters... Maybe a ATF fluid change.

So you meant ’10 not 10’. Dyslexic much? ;)

No, I guess I just don't know what way it was supposed to go. I always thought it was 10' and depending on context it could mean feet or year. Like I was born in 96' but you're saying it's '96?

Yeah the order @Ed Beaty posted is per the non-Techstream method, in the Repair Manual. Maybe not critical; but that's the order I've followed.

I can post it tomorrow, just on phone now.

I think the second way is right; you're truncating 1996, so the apostrophe goes where the letters were omitted.

    I've never been quite sure about possessive case, "Bill's bicycle" for example. Took me 69 years to look it up, and yup;

Here's Repair Manual instructions, both non-Techstream and Techstream methods. I've only read through the "non" version, and this is the order:

    upload_2020-11-21_7-0-34.png

The above pic shows what takes 4 near-identical paragraphs in the manual, with acronyms-only used to describe right and left side (RH for Right Hand, for example).

After replacing my front pads and rotors, I used the Techstream method. Techstream(TS) sequentially tells you which brake to bleed, and supposedly the car will be all set when you're done. Of course, my dash lit up like a Christmas tree, when I was done. Fortunately, going through the TS bleed process again, but not actually bleeding more fluid, made everything right. When I replaced my rear pads and rotors, I didn't use TS!

PS - I also came here to learn about the 10-foot-long bleeder hose!

For anyone who has to watch the huge number of people who call their brakes "breaks" and quite "quiet" or seek "advise" instead of advice, punctuation is the least of our education concerns. In Texas our government is trying to eliminate standardized testing. I assume the officials are embarrassed about the results of their budget cuts.

Since were on that subject, don't use Mobile oil in the breaks and your fine.

    Since weir on a role:

People often say the fractured expression "I could care less". Think about, and you'll maybe see, "I couldn't care less" is more apt.

Or maybe you don't care, lol.
