    Well, hello everyone.
My 2006 Prius is from USA, Bought in 2016 Jule. Running here from August 1st. I didn't check digitally the vehicle. It had 152866 miles run. A week ago there came a light on panel with red triangle, while I was turning to the left. After that I noticed that, red triangle came 3 times again on dashboard. So I rushed immediately to the service. Decided to change the oil, as it was nothing seen on dipstick. The mileage is 156932. When letting out the old oil, it was as black as hell and 200 ml only. It means what? There might be leak? Or it really cosumes that oil?

I burn about 1/2 L per 1,000 miles. It seems common with these vehicles with that many miles. Just keep an eye on the oil and add when needed.

The dipstick should be checked regularly on any car, certainly one with 150,000+ miles. Many Priuses consume some oil under many driving conditions--it mentions this in the owner's manual.

This may be an expensive lesson. You may have damaged the engine. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Listen for noise in the lower part of the engine. Perhaps start looking for a salvaged engine--they are not very expensive here in the US. Good luck with it.

welcome! without knowing where the oil level was when you got the car, it is impossible to determine if it is a leak, was low on oil to begin with, or is burning oil. start checking it everyday, until you get comfortable with the level. then you can start checking it every couple days, every week, every month, every fill up, and etc. all the best!(y)

No but there's a zero oil pressure alarm the Check Engine light flashes. Usually when they go around corners and last little drops of oil slosh away from and expose the sump lol...

Amazing how many people come to this site to ask about that flashing engine light and never open the hood and check the vitals before joining and posting.

Like many things we are seeing now it does not bode well for US Residents lol.

Flashing engine light usually means oh shit pull over and check under the hood. Do not proceed unless you can figure this out. An engine light stuck on usually is an emissions issue.

If you engine eats oil move up to the next thicker oil like 40 weight. Like Mobil 1 5-40. It will really help and always keep it at the full line on the dipstick. If its an oil eating monster just use the cheapest 40 weight you can buy. Its going out the tailpipe anyway.

It likely means your motor is worn out because the person/s who previously owned the vehicle didn't physically check and maintain their oil and vehicle.

It's not uncommon. The lack of low oil light that is, lol. Don't recall ever having a car (all Hondas till now) with such a gauge.

Add Ford, Subaru, Acura, and Toyota to that list of brands that, at least in my experience, have no low oil level light.

Maybe add Polaris, John Deere, International Harvester, Oliver, Caterpillar, Wisconsin, and Briggs & Stratton too.

Maybe...just try hooking up the pump, walking the lights, checking the fluids, stick the tires...pump clicks off...then just carry on with the day. Even with a small tank or a top off...it shouldn't take more than 2 additional minutes. Anyways...to each their own.
