The dashboard lights keep going out in our 2005 Gen 2 Prius. We switched the combination pc board with one from a wrecked 2005 Prius that had never had the dash blackout problem, but the problem came right back. Is there anything else to do besides having the pc board repaired? Also, Is the board repaired, as some claim, by simply doubling the 100 uF capacitor on the pc board?
If you can solder small stuff you can fix it on your own... There's plenty of threads on here on how to DIY it. Otherwise Prius Speedometer Replacement is the usual folk we suggest.
Yes, it is that simple, if you can do board level soldering. Just remove the old 100 µF which has failed and replace it with a new 220 µF one.
Hello, I'm having a similar problem (dashboard lights occasionally going out). I unplugged the 12v battery & upon reconnecting, that seemed to solve it. However, the problem has come back. Can someone point me in the direction of thread(s) on how to fix the PC board, where it's located, etc.? Thanks for any tips.
Look up. There's a "sticky" thread at the very top of this forum titled "combination meter repair - DIY". Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
