Read your blog. Don't paint the head liner. Wrap it with fabric. I did mine in suede. Still have some stuff to do. It's a project for sure. Paint should be your last resort when it comes to your headliner. Just my 2 cents. IMG_20201108_215043_383.jpg

New tires today. I had my eye on a set of lightly used Corolla 17 inch wheels with nearly new Yokohama tires, but someone beat me to those. So I stayed with the 15’s, and got the Bridgestone Ecopia 422’s. My what a difference a tire makes on ride quality. I never thought my car rode badly before, but it rides very nicely now.

All in price was right at $440.

Let us know how that goes, I’m looking to take on that project soon (within a week) and would love to know how it went. On a side note I’ve heard that simple green eats away at aluminum.

Oven Cleaner, and pressure washer work the best and fastest.
    Neither will harm the cooler.

I pressure washed it but will need a 2nd soak. This 280k+ worth of build up. Maybe in a few yrs I'll try the oven cleaner thing.

Tried to install my overly engineered sheet metal underpinning today. Massive failure. Apparently I made some errors in either measuring and drawing the plastic panel onto the sheet metal, or in how I attached the two panels together. So I cut strips out of it, and repaired the aftermarket one where the plastic push pins go thru.

And my month long wait (Wish.com) for a nutsert tool and inserts was wasted. The second insert, the tool fell apart. But I will get another one, and use the inserts to replace all the push pins on the splash shield.

sucks...nutserts are awesome though. Just need the right tool to do it. Also practice makes perfect so test it on something similar before you go ham on your car. I only press it as far as it can go on plastics while also using epoxy to bond the metal nutsert to the abs plastic. On metal I kinda do the same but ensure the hole I drilled is primered to keep rust from happening.

The nice thing is the factory holes along the sides of the panel are the right size for the M5 inserts, and the larger two holes on the rear fit the M6 inserts. I had to file around the outside of the insert just a little bit to get them in the larger hole. It could have been the coating on the insert too though.

Going for round 3 because I really want the entire thing to be free of buildup. If it took 280k miles to fill this sucker up I would like to completely eliminate all trace or at least open up all the passageways/veins. I can see through the middle roles and partial on the sides. The sides are my main concern. Overnight soaking it and will probably try to take it to the car wash later tomorrow. This time the whole thing is submerged in the simple green. I plan to refill and save the simple green for reuse so I'll use some coffee filters while pouring it back into some containers.

The oven cleaner would have been about 90% faster...

I might have to go for that. It looks cleaned up but I can't see the veins that are not in center.

Side note: I'll never order from 'toyotapartsdeal.com' again. Their return policy is shit. Can't return electrical parts even though they aren't used. Now I have a 3rd gen water pump with no use. Might throw it on Amazon or ebay....

You could try soaking it in white vinegar. But soaking it with oven cleaner for 30 minutes at a time,
will soften and brake down the carbon. You have spray it in and cover both holes.
That will allow it to spread inside. I did that several times.
    Yours sound super blocked.
Why do you have a water pump? Most places won't let you return electrical part unless it has not been opened.

280k motor and unsure it was done or not. change course to replace the engine with a 4th gen or at least a 2017.

I bought the least expensive no name brand. Maybe check the dollar tree store(s)?
