Wheels that big will give an inaccurate speedometer reading and fuel efficiency will drop by 1/3rd to 1/2.

i thought the factory 17 was only a 7" .. i did not see them as big, do you mean because of the +40 offset?

according to tyre calculator they are a tad smaller than the factory 195x65 we run in australia

Maybe it's a metric thing in your country? In the US the standard Gen2 wheel size is 15 inches in diameter and in the touring Gen2 it's 16 inches in diameter and slightly less MPG. So maybe what you mean by 17 is not 17 inches?

    Hi Camper :)

Firstly i understand it may effect economy a little but not too much! i am sure it definitely wont be by 1/3 or 1/2

this is for a gen3 but would like to see pics of any gen prius on this size wheel & tyre combo

In Australia all factory gen2 wheels that i am aware of are 15" ugly as sin and factory tyre size is 195/60r15

Gen 3 factory wheels are again 15" with 195/65r15 and higher package cars get optional 17" wheels which "i think" are 215/45r17

so wheel rotation works out to be a smidgen bigger for gen2 and a piddle smaller for gen3 compared to the factory 15's

There's threads on here that can answer your questions, just gotta refine your keywords in your google searches. Also a low profile tire could minimize the loss in gas mileage, inaccuracies in speedometer-odometer.

That’s correct, and the 17” combo is theoretically slight smaller OD, at the face of tire tread. In practice they’re really close.

17” is our originals; I run 15” snows through winter.

Cheers Mendel i knew they were pretty similar to factory issue 17's just the offset might track out a bit wider but still should not look too cheesy lol

Yeah I guess I’m not understanding the title description; it’s a 17” rim with deeper sidewall tire??

ahh sorry if my title is confusing :) that's me all over

the wheels are "aftermarket" more commonly seen on subarus, not sure what they are called unfortunately i will get a pic later

Its the 40 offset that i am mostly curious about i think factory offset is closer to 50 correct me if i am wrong
