Can someone please confirm what is the correct size for Prius oil sump nut size?

There seems to be 2 sizes given, M12x1.25 and M12x1.5.

I am assuming the 1.25 and 1.5 is the thread size? Which is correct size? Cause I just realize my other car thread size was wrong and it stripped the nut. Luckily the nut I got is made of aluminum. I wanted to make sure for Prius I didn't screw up the size. No puns intended.

If you have dealership nearby, they would have the genuine one. It’s 14 mm socket size fwiw.

    it’s a bolt btw.

The nut usually goes INSIDE the car between the steering wheel and the seat......

Never hurts to spend a few dollars to have a thread gauge

And then Toyota calls it a "plug":

    PLUG
Genuine Toyota, Genuine Daihatsu, Genuine Hino (9034112012):

    Genuine Toyota 90341-12012 (9034112012) PLUG - Amayama

If you order through above, shipping for the single item would be onerous. But add something like wiper blades, air filters, and shipping doesn't increase much, makes it more worthwhile. Anyway, there's the part number and description.

I generally get my 0w20 from the dealer here anyway; no better prices in town, last time I checked.

Once I'm already there, if I had to spend even $4 or the full undiscounted $5.55 because I needed a plug one time, it would hardly be worth my time to run around looking for cheaper, or fuss with an overseas order.

Yeah I get everything at dealership too. @abubin ’s location might not have dealerships nearby, not sure. I’ve suggested he get the drain bolt from dealership (if practical) and in my last post supplied him description, part number, and a mail order source, if needed.

    That's ok?

    Nuts for the nuts?

    Yeah, it's technically a plug.

If it held something onto something else it would be a screw.
Unless there was a nut on the other end. Then it would be a bolt.

Easy to remember if you've ever used a nut for fishing. Almost every time I cast that nut out into the pond a fish will make a bolt for it. :ROFLMAO:
