Hoping to buy 2021 Prius Prime as my first car today! What do you think of this quote?

    Yeah, I was looking at low-mileage trade-in in excellent condition. It looks like I can still trade in mine for more than it cost me under those conditions. Depreciation is a lot less in such conditions.

    Here is the resulting screenshot for 2020 PP LE and Limited both with 15kmiles in excellent condition.

    BTW, I sold my 2020 PP LE with 4K miles ~ a month ago for $22,415 to Carvana which was ~$400 above KBB value at the time.

    I suppose it comes down to what features you want and how much you are comfortable paying.

    For me, the optional features of the Limited far outweigh the cost of adding them ala carte to a base model, even if it were possible. As for resale, it is what it is. Until these last two cars, the kids, grand kids, or Cancer Society always relieved me of needing to deal with trade ins.

    That doesn’t stop a dealer from swapping it out. Certain items are installed at the dealership even though they’re standard equipment. Things like mudguards, cargo net, illuminated door sills etc. They’re not installed at the factory.

    These things you listed are accessories. They are installed at the "port," not the factory or dealer. Tonneau cover is a factory part, not an accessory.

    Is this the lightweight tonneau cover, which is a cheap, nonretractable flap? It must be only available in the base/LE/Plus model. I think XLE has the heavyweight retractable one and the Toyota website specs have a typo. The two variants require separate nuts and bolts to install; therefore, this isn't something a dealer would mess with. So, I know what the lightweight one is now!

    My 2017 PP Premium (now XLE) came with a lightweight tonneau cover. At that time only the Advanced trim had a retractable heavyweight tonneau cover. I think this was true up to 2019 models.
    My 2020 PP LE came with a retractable heavyweight tonneau cover. I think from 2020 on, all three trims of PP come only with heavyweight tonneau cover.

    BTW, of two types of tonneau covers, the lightweight flexible one was more functional for my use. It allows putting an item taller than the height of the cover. It was flexible enough to bulge and accommodate an item sticking above the plane of the cover, whereas the hard tonneau cover severely limits the maximum heights of items that can be placed under it. Also, the flexible lightweight cover, when not needed, can be folded flat and stored under the cargo mat, taking up no cargo space. The hard tonneau was a bit more bulky and took space in the cargo. However, in the end, I removed both types of tonneau covers on my cars. I just had an old bed quilt in the cargo all the time to use as either cargo floor mat or tonneau cover as needed.

    Come to think of it, I don't think I placed them back into the car when sold both of my PPs. So, I must still have both covers somewhere in my garage. If anyone is interested, PM me. Otherwise, they will be for sale on eBay. lol

    I've wondered what the heavy weight cover looks like on the Limited. I've had it all along on my 2021 XLE. My sticker just says "Cargo Area Tonneau Cover." Seems to block glare and headlights at night with it unrolled and the heavy part against the back of the rear headrest.

    What you have is the heavyweight tonneau cover. As I commented, 2020 and up all three PP trims come only with the heavyweight retractable tonneau cover.

    Our 2020 came with the heavyweight one - has sat in storage since purchase. My VW was the same, but I sold mine on ebay.
    They are just too limiting for cargo use and we prefer to add a quality tint that helps reduce interior temps vs no tint and a cover.
    I'd much rather the MSRP of the vehicle be less than come with accessories I do not want and would never use.

    The cover that Gokhan posted in #46 isn't great, but the "cover" that came with my 18 Prime is very flimsy.
    It's put away until I trade the car. It's useless. I use a cover mostly in the summer, to put over the groceries. I place the silver heat shield designed for the windshield over them.

    My '80 Corolla and '84 Celica came with a removable shelf that I liked. It gave the car the advantage of a hatch, with a trunk like hiding place. It remained in place and provided a place to stash valuables.
    The temporary /window shade types just shout : I'm hiding something valuable here!"

    Ha, it's great that they have discontinued the cheap flap cover on all trims! According to the Toyota Parts website (see my link above), the flap cover costs less than half the retractable cover. This is one more reason that makes the lower trims more attractive; however, I love my Limited with all the cats and dogs.

    For those who are new to Prime (and Prius), the roller type tonneau cover can be stored under the floor in the bin.

    There is a freeway merge I go through, and the low, bright Southern California evening sun shines right in your eye when you're trying to look on your right side to merge. This evening, the sun was so bad that I could neither see anything in the mirror nor an actual vehicle. However, I saw the orange flashing BSM indicator on the mirror and waited, and then a car zipped by. If I didn't have the BSM, I could have possibly got into an accident.

    It is a truly indispensable feature, and there is a good chance that it will be standard on all trims starting in 2022.

    That's only if space is not already taken up by other stuff. I had tools for tire repair, a small compressor, and spare wiper blades. No more room for the charge chord or the rolled-up tonneau.

    My cord goes in there. But ever since I left it at my folks' place (I have a 240V at home so I figured I'll leave the 120V there so I can charge when I visit) my bin is empty haha.. (well except for the tool kit).

    On my first trading of 2017 PP, I did not have the charging cord with the car. The dealer closed the trade-in/purchase deal anyway. So, I have an extra OEM L1 EVSE. Also, I have two L2 EVSE now. One purchased cheaply on Ebay, another from EnelX (JuiceBox) still in a box. But I currently have no plug-in car. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

    My bin is also full of tools and stuff. I keep the L2 EVSE in position in the garage. The L1 is coiled in the donut spare that's strapped down in the front left corner of the cargo area. With the tire laying face down, the hollow in the back is just right to hold the EVSE w/o taking up any extra space.

    I have both versions of the cover. I prefer the lightweight cover over the roller type tonneau cover. It’s lighter, provides more usable space, and moves out of the way when I raise the hatch.

    I liked the roller version in my Gen 3 car, but of course it had a much larger storage area.
