I Have The Prius 2008 Green With 139,892 Miles After About 50 Seconds After Starting The After Letting Sit For 1 Month All The Lights Came On. I Had The Tire Light For 2 Months. I Took It Over To My Friend Who Had Techstream. I Am Wondering Why My Transmission Failed. I Looked Up About The Hybrid Battery And They Fail From Sitting Which I Was Unaware Of. So I Want To Know If This Car Is Worth The Fix I Had It For 13 Years.

How do you know the transmission is bad?

What Is Wrong With Your Caps Key?

As we said in your other posts the 12v battery voltages are low both off and running.

Yes, having a strong 12V battery is the first step to seeing what is actually wrong with your car. It is still very possible that you have a failing HV battery as well. Won't know until you start doing something to check it out.

Whether or not it's worth fixing is up to you and how much time effort and money you're willing to invest in your car. If you have DIY skills and attitude (and have space / tools to work on things) AND aren't phazed by the thought of making a mistake or having a car that could fail again at some point, then you could repair the HV battery yourself. (this can cost the least money but takes the most time, how reliable this will be depends on how well you do things)

If you have to pay a shop or dealer to repair your car (ie installing NEW battery modules) then fixing an old prius becomes less feasible. (most money but least time, the new HV battery should be good for another 10 years)

In between those options is getting NEW modules (from Toyota or Newpriusbatteries.com) and installing them yourself.

Generally most here do not reccomend any form of rebuilt or refurbished or "repaired" battery since these are made up of used modules that may or may not have been "reconditioned". Reliability is often poor with repeat failures within a few months.

Here is the trouble shooting procedure for the P0A92 521 code. The two possible outcomes are replacing the transmission or the inverter. Replacing the inverter takes just a couple of hours and they can be purchased for less than $100. So that repair is not a car killer. Having to replace both the HV battery and a transmission exceed the value of your Prius.

Your car is worth $500 to $1000 in it's current condition. Someone would be able to DIY the repairs and have a good cheap car. Original equipment catalytic coverters are also scraping for over $1000. That might be a good way to get more money out of your car.

From the info, I can see that block 5 (BB5) is the cause of your hybrid battery issue...
I would start there, if you are able DIY ..

    Good Luck!
