I just bought this 2012 Prius today and it said maintenance required. I went to get the oil changed and tried to reset the maintenance required notice by following what the book says (setting to TripA, turning car off, holding down MPH KM/H button, starting car). I've tried exactly what the book says and every possible variation of this that I can think of and it will not reset. The guy at Jiffy Lube had no idea why it wasn't working either. Anyone have any tips?

This seems like pretty clear instructions. Maybe you're just missing a detail?

2010-2015 TOYOTA PRIUS OIL MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHT RESET:

    Time needed: 7 minutes.

If your vehicle has maintenance items due within 30 days, the Maintenance Required message will appear on the display. The maintenance minder information display must be reset after performed the maintenance service on your vehicle. Follow the instructions below to reset the maintenance light on your Toyota Prius:

    1. Turn the ignition to the ON mode without starting the engine
Press the POWER button twice without touching the brake pedal.

    2. Press the TRIP button repeatedly until you see “TRIP A” on the display
The button located on the steering wheel

    3. Next, turn OFF the ignition
      Press the POWER button once

    4. Press and hold the km/h MPH button while turning the POWER button to ON mode again
The button is located on the center console

    5. Keep holding the km/h MPH button while the reset is in progress and until you are told that the reset is complete.

WHERE did they get 7 minutes????

    Trip meter on "A"
Turn car off, wait a few seconds
Press and hold the kmh/mph button and press the start button twice
"if" that doesn't work, try pressing and holding the brake pedal while pressing the start button once.

maybe the last step takes 6 minutes?

or they assume the average person has never done it before and will spend the first 4 minutes reading the procedure 10 times, mess it up 3 times and then finally get it right? :)

I've never had a problem with the Gen 2 resetting, so I'm not sure where the glitch is on this one...

Canadian Prius aren’t “blessed” with this feature. :sneaky:

I wish I could say I was accidentally missing a detail. I did everything exactly how you described. The car just turns on to the non-power mode (I don’t know what it’s called) like normal and doesn’t show the reset screen.

How do you reset it on a Canadian Prius?

Do all of your buttons work for their normal function? They can't work for a secret handshake function if they don't work at all.

Yes they all work. I actually found the solution on another page on Prius Chat. For some reason I had to switch the display to the energy monitor display, then do the steps. It wouldn’t work on any other display setting.

Sounds like that could be a pretty important thing for owners to know.

Ya learn something new every day! :)
I don't have JBL or touch screen, just the plain radio, so I guess those that do have the touch screen
need to do it that way.
At least know you know. Make a note in the owners manual. :)
