in the last recession, ford didn't have any financial problems. was it because they were smarter than everyone else?
nope. they just happened to have wrapped up long term financing before the economy took a down turn.

 

The whole article sings their praises because they stockpiled chips. Too bad they didn't do the same stockpile with battery modules so they could get more RAV4 plugin hybrids available.

That wasn't going to work for the frugal Prius buyers, but it could if a large part of hybrid owners at the time were early adopters. The Prius was a large 'trade in' for the Model 3, but they also got many coming from a BMW or other model in the segment Tesla positioned themselves in.

 

I'ver read that for a US based company to do business in china, the US company has to partner with a chinese company for regulatory and legal issues. Probably not that big an issue since IBM, Apple to name a couple have successfully (so far) managed those issues.
I'm just curious what the chinese manufactured counterpart to the chinese built US based Tesla will be called.

Tesla didn't have to partner with a Chinese car company for their factory there.
Tesla's 100% American Owned Factory In China Is A Big Deal

They did go with Chinese battery companies to supply the Model 3 for the domestic market there, which was likely part of the deal, and why the standard range model uses LiFePO.

It will be called a TESLA.

Note that Tesla negotiated with China so that they did not have to have a Chinese company partner to do business in China

I'm all for reducing human produced pollution/waste. Going Green I thought was a really good first step and if I had more $ I most likely would not care as much about how the original Green movement (at least the one I remember) has changed over the years. Changing so much that that the present Green movement to me appears to be focused solely on $ and how much of it can be made in the name of Green and human convenience. I also believe Tesla has made a huge impact on the automotive industry as a whole. (in another thread concerning customer satisfaction, satisfactory has been a buzz word in the Detroit area for a long time. I sure some can imagine way.) i still believe changing the fuel that powers out insatiable need for personal transportation is not going to solve our/human impact on the earths environment. Further, if humans are past the point of no return, as some already believe, why would anyone, any company, any institution, any country care how the planet will support life of any kind in our futures.
I realize individually, I'm really insignificant in terms of our planets total population and human technical achievements, but that doesn't stop me from trying individually to figure out new ways to reduce my impact on the environment, reduce the waste I generate and survive.
Choosing this path makes it hard to find and keep friends, but that might also be related to falling on my head at a very young age and scaring the bejesus out of my family, especially my oldest sister, may she RIP , who was babysitting my other two sisters and me .
