    I found a 2012 Prius 3 with a little under 200K miles for $4k.
Second owner has owned it for about 5 years
He is saying it runs great and that he never had any issues at all (no check engine lights ever)
    Always changed oil himself.
I don't think the EGR valve was ever cleaned

Does it sound a like a good deal? What should I watch out for?
When goes the gen3 start having hybird battery issues?

I currently have a 2008 Prius with 109xxx miles, still on original battery but won't mind upgrading into a gen 3 or is that a mistake?

I'd just keep the 2009. Half the miles and lots less potential problems.

a good deal for a 2012 with 200k would be if someone gave it to you.

As much as I wanted to buy the car I really do think I will pass. He just posted and says he has 4 other people very interested and won't budge a dollar.

It's crazy what some of these Prius go for. Anything with 130-150k miles prices are 7k+

Crazy high or low? Not being sarcy, just not that conversant in used values, doubly so for the States.

For sure: used 3rd gen with those miles, you need to go into it with your eyes peeled. Various potential problems, not the least of which is:

Crazy expensive. These Prius are known for expensive issues as they age but people still buy them.

Kbb says mine is $7,600 with 170,000 miles. No oil burning yet, great oil analysis results with 65-67 mpg to the tank. Mine will be driven to the ground like a oil rig drill.
