I need the steps for installing an Alpine Powerpack KTP-445 amplifier in a 2012 Prius Five, with the Toyota Entune Headunit and the JBL Green Edge system and the Factory JBL Amplifier.

THE REASON IS THAT THE PREMIUM JBL SYSTEM SIMPLY SOUNDS TOO MEDIOCRE, AND YES IT'S LOUD ENOUGH JUST NOT CLEAR ENOUGH, AND JUST UPGRADING THE SPEAKERS WON'T DO THE JOB BECAUSE OF THE PRIUS SYSTEM POWER LIMITATIONS.

    1. I figured I need the Wiring diagram for both the Headunit( For the Amp Remote wire).

    2. And The Wiring diagram for the Factory JBL Amplifier( For the 4 channels peaker wires)

    3. And the biggest challenge so far is finding a way to bypass the JBL Factory amp in a way that let's me keep All the Entune Headunit Functionality intact.

And yes, I'm aware of the 30 Amp MAX Draw on the Priuses, that's why the Alpine Powerpack that I've chose, has a Maximum current Draw of 15 AMP.
So it's within the Prius safety limits.

I will upgrade the speakers with 6x9 Infinity KAPPA 93IX in Front and 6.5 62IX in the rear doors that have a 2.5 Ohm Impedance.
The Speakers are Rated as 2.5 Ohm Impedance,
And the Alpine Powerpack supports both 4 and 2 Ohm loads in the 4x45W configuration.

I'm prety OK when it comes to DIY as long as the instructions are solid, and I'm not afraid of a challenge so PLEASE HELP!!!

For 10$ , you could order the complete installation guide with everything you need to know , from Crutchfield... I ordered speakers and they sent me the installation guide and with the pictures and simple instructions, may be a good cheap solution... . FB0D48D1-4111-4720-8EAD-4C90796A0381.jpeg

I would also be interested in this I installed in my 2010 Prius with jbl system I was able to install an android radio but I need more so I installed some Infiniti kappa speakers and it was meh I have infinity kappas on another and they sound amazing but I take it that the Prius just has those limitations with power.

"I installed some Infiniti kappa speakers"

JBL amp likes 2 ohm speakers. Are the kappas higher impedance?

would the final ohm load per channel be 1 ohm or 4 ohm to the jbl amp?

I've no idea how they sound, just stating what I know about the Harmon amp in my JBL system.

found this on another board. '
With the JBL system there are a few options, because the amp has internal crossovers. This means the tweeters only get highs, the doors only get mids, and the sub only gets bass.
So if you’re wanting to add in new speakers that get full range, you either need a device like the PAC AmpPro that creates true full-signal preouts, or a device like the AudioControl LC7i that can do signal summing (combine the lows/mids/highs all into one channel)

the AmpPro is the best solution, hands down.
The LC7i is a god alternative but requires more work and wiring.

as for a diagram, PM me your email'

TBH if it were me I would get another HU because I don't like the signal processing jbl does with louder volume and when I tried to signal summing and eqing It wasn't a great result. There are some new headunits out there that allow apple car play and That would be an option for me. Lastly, Prius max draw of 30amps Not sure how true that is, I have two amps running in my car and 2500 Watts to amps = 20.83 Amps. You are way under the 30 amp draw.

Hi guys so I took some pictures of the JBL Green Edge Amp, with the Power Pack next to it,
I thought the 3rd Gen Prius has 3 connectors on the JBL Amp,
But after I removed the plastic cover from the Factory Amp, I was bummed to find that it has ONLY 2 CONNECTORS, since I bought all 3 harnesses on eBay, from the 3 connector model(2 white and 1 blue color)
    Mine only has 2 white color connectors IMG_20210317_043106.jpg IMG_20210317_032627.jpg IMG_20210317_035726.jpg IMG_20210317_035706.jpg IMG_20210317_034530.jpg IMG_20210317_033506.jpg IMG_20210317_033520.jpg IMG_20210317_033534.jpg IMG_20210317_033328.jpg IMG_20210317_033323.jpg IMG_20210317_032627.jpg IMG_20210317_033234.jpg

Yes I agree, but the LC2I is a more affordable solution since I decided to better run the KTP-445U Bridged at 2x90W RMS at 4 Ohm load,
And I actually ended up buying(found a good deal on OfferUp) a pair of
Alpine Type S-S65 80W RMS 4 Ohm, 88 DB, 70Hz-22KHz , 2 way Speakers, Instead of the Infinity Kappas.
I'll definetely need some solution for a Ok LOW END(Maybe an Under Seat Powered Subwoofer (since I need all the trunk space I can get, but that is definetely for another day.
My budget is pretty tight, so I'm Not trying to go all Audiophile level, just get a entry level of decent sound quality.
I also must retain the Factory Headunit, for better or for worse:(

I'm not sure that your math is correct,
If you have 2 Amplifiers of 1200W RMS Each, (which I highly doubt), totaling 2400 W RMS Total Power Output then,
If we use the formula I=P/V, then
2400WDivided by14V(Roughly,13.8V to 14.2V in Prius Ready Mode)= Roughly 171.5 Amps,, Not accounting for other factors.
And, if the 30Amp Draw limit it's not a real thing, then I can get the Subwoofer I want, (But I think it makes sense that it is a real limitation, because the Prius doesn't have and a Traditional Alternator, and it's all about efficiency, then the big load will drain the HV battery pretty fast, just trying to charge the AUX 12V Battey), and the ICE will run Non Stop, but maybe I'm wrong.

a feller on YouTube does amp dyno testing. He debunked many amp manufacturers wrms and max ratings and you pretty much nailed it. Alpine has an amp that claims 5,000 max watt 1 ohm load. The dyno measured that it doesn’t even put out 1,000 max in 1 ohm load. The onboard amp fuse rating itself was laughable also.

I just looked up a converter online for watts to amps, since my amps are capable of 1800 watts @1 ohm load I was using that as a baseline reference. Ohm loads vary in a car depending on the signal so most likely you won’t be putting out that many watts all or most of the time, sorry I know this confusing.
do not know but that was part of the quote I got from the other website. Pm anyway if you have questions I’ll try my best to answer.

5000 watts is probably refers by to peak watts and not rms. 1000 watts rms is about right for a higher end alpine. I can crank my system full tilt and get voltage drop down to 12.4 volts, the amps are rated at 400watts rms and 1800 watts rms, believe me these things love that Prius battery pack ;)

I Can't send any Pm to you, it gives me an error every time I've tried to send it.

Please post some picture with the 30 Pin Connector Layout, if you can.
I posted here the Pictures of the JBL GreenEdge Amplifier and it's 2 connectors.
There's 2 wires of each color, in the 30 Pin connector,(One for Squaker and One for the Woofer)
I need to know which wire of the same color Is the Woofer, in total 8 wires.
    Before I'll the factory harness.
    Please!
