Scheduling Dealer Inspection with Seller?

I’ve been looking to buy an older Prius 8.5-9k. I’ve weeded through and have spoken to a lot of sellers but I’m finding it difficult to schedule to a PPI with a local Toyota dealership. Some sellers do me the favor of backing off outright and that’s fine, The others agree and have later backed out or end up being agreeable because they’re scamming or title floating.

Since this would be my first hybrid I feel a little lost and worried I’d look over a detail I’m unfamiliar with versus gasoline run cars. A PPI is necessary to avoid a car sized paperweight. But how???

Is it normally this hard? Is my approach wrong? I’ve been get the details and carfax, trying to schedule a time to view and test drive, and ask if a PPI would be okay. In my mind the order of events is: meet at dealership, visual inspection, test drive, PPI, buy if all goes well.

Please help me and tell me if I’m doing it wrong. Is it me or them? :/

I was initially planning on having it all happen in one swoop. So maybe I’m partially at fault. It’s difficult to coordinate times and rides for me and I’d think the seller would want the security of having the car sold without waiting for a PPI to get paid. So many people flake or ghost that I thought it was the most swift for all. I may have to split it up and see where that gets me.

Bisco you pretty much summed up question number two on the roster-a good hybrid mechanic in Chicago. I appreciate the word of advise.
