Something super strange has been happening with my car recently.

The first thing I've noticed is that there is a button with a light near the TRAC control, that blinks red when the car is off. I've scoured the internet and the owners manual and can't find a single thing about it, or what it does. Pressing it does nothing when the car is on, and no message is displayed.

Maybe related to that, I'm not sure, but has anyone had any issue where the car panic alarm randomly goes off? I live in an apartment complex with thin walls and will randomly hear something go off, and will notice the panic alarm is going off with my keys sitting on my table or on a hook. I can shut off the alarm but randomly comes on again while I'm walking away. My neighbors probably are pretty mad. Anyone know some causes of this? I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance!

Uploading a picture of that button. Edit this is a 2020 prius
Edit again when I turn on the car, the car has three short honks like a chirp

i don't see the blinking red. on previous generations, the blinking red is anti theft, but it's not a button.

might you have a dealer installed anti theft device you are unaware of?

another cause in the past is a bad key fob button

Read the Owner's Manual - I suspect it won't mention it - meaning that it wasn't something TOYOTA put there. (It's not on my car, but mine is Australian Spec & RHD.)

The button looks aftermarket alarm. My 2020 XLE AwDe does not have that button.

Who did you get the car FROM ?
You need to see them about the after-market alarm that has been added.
The button you refer to is NOT stock.
