Got up this morning to a flat tire, the screw was not on the sidewall so we were good there.

I needed a rotation and wanted to rebalance the tires too and I remembered America's Tire does this for free.

They patched up the tire and rebalance/rotated the tires.

All for free, I never purchased a tire from them.

I highly recommend them!!!!

Nice. I had no idea... I have a damaged sidewall on my ecopia that's bulging pretty bad and today Priority Tire online would only sell me one, but it was $75 so a great deal. I'll probably try to get as much life out of the tire around town and then before the next road trip put the spare donut on and head to America's Tire to see if they charge to mount and balance and recycle old tire. Currently an alignment shop down the street will do that for me for $20 cash because they don't have to deal with the car, just the wheel and the two tires it's a reasonable price, but maybe these folks will do it for a better price?

They won't balance for free, at least the one near me.

Can always call and ask how much. They can also sell road hazard warranty to you for most tires. Walmart is also another cheap mounting option.

I hate our local America's Tires. It's showroom is stocked with high pressure salesmen who (in the short time I was waiting) found multiple problems with each customer's car that required 4 new tires and alignment to fix. I just wanted a rotation. When he got around to mine and pointed out that uneven tread wear (slightly more wear on the outsides) meant that it needed new tires and an alignment I told him no. He said I'd have to make an appointment for 3 days in the future to get the free rotation.

I'm sure it's a local problem, but it sure spoiled me on their brand.

Maybe not.
A LOT of big companies train their employees to sell people stuff that they don't need.
Some are just a bit more aggressive in doing it.

At least around here, they do not offer alignment service:

https://www.discounttire.com/services

Discount Tire is the name in some states while others America's Tire.

Always check at http://www.tires.com to verify you have one of their stores. There are several stores with very similar name around here easy to confuse with them...

"21,458 miles" - just a little under my yearly, Tesla miles, 25,339 ~= 120,359 miles / 4.75 yrs

Happily, I bought a 2017 BMW i3-REx to handle most of my urban driving. This reduces the load on the Tesla battery.

America's (discount) tire sure gets a ton of business from all their free stuff. With our frequent harsh mountainous winters - they do tons of free studded tire wheel combo change outs as the weather gets snowy & again when spring rolls around. Yet post 5 complains about having to wait 3 days. LOL - boo hoo.
Guess he'd rather not get new tires pushed on him w/ nothing for free. New word for ingrates .... 'appointment'.
;)
It's hard for ANY company nowadays to get enough employees after the virus - so yeah - places are crowded. It took us FOUR months to get in for a door dent in a local body shop and that was the soonest around.
Discount Tire even changed out a dead TPM for us, for just the cost of the part, not the balance & remount. I was so grateful - I went ahead & changed out our summer tires to the studs - just so we wouldn't clutter their service bays.

Never trust the mileage on any document from automotive places, unless you make sure it is correct.

In 5k miles when I make an appointment to get another free rotation & balance, I am sure it will be corrected and I will not have to say anything at all.

Maybe the key way sticky or that young kid was just too fast and or stoned because he kept telling me about some customer that brought them krispy cream donuts.

Funny since I posted this picture only comments are about the mileage.

Imagine my prius with under 22k miles on it and I already had to replace my engine, HV battery and catalytic converter and pay out of pocket???

Rebalancing at every rotation seems overkill.

I just DIY rotate in conjunction with swapping between my all-seasons and snows, never seen a need to rebalance. Once in blue moon, say if you lost a weight, it’d be worthwhile.

this thread is a bit of an infomercial?

As your tires age and are used they lose weight and they should be rebalanced to keep the tread even, this along with alignments and also tire dressing will keep your tires in good condition for as long as they can be used.

I have not been able to get free rotation (AND balancing) on tires not purchased at my local America’s Tire (Pasadena, CA), but AzusaPrius has. I am guessing this is evidence. Most recently I have been sold the lifetime balance and road hazard at a discount on OEM tires on a new car. (He noted that he could give a little discount because I’ve been a loyal customer for over 20 years).

EDIT- Kid missed a digit on the ODO…

Vibration from imbalance will also lead to premature suspension wear. (I do stop bringing them in, though, when they start recommending purchasing replacement tires, and just rotate them at home)…

EDIT- Some tire Manufacturers look down on tire dressing claiming that they remove built in tire oils (in their rubber formulation).
