Im new here. Ive read in several threads about using the "Departure time" charging function on my new prime.
The reason being its better to
not let the battery sit at full charge for hours b4 you use it.
But ive also read toyota builds in
wiggle room into its charging structure. It only charges to 80%
    or discharges down to 10%.
These numbers are from memory. (im old so may be wrong ha) But anyway why do we
worry about a full battery charge if its not actually a full charge.
    Seems Toyotas engineers have
    solved this for us??

read your manual. toyota states 'not to leave it fully charged for long periods of time'

they don't define time, it's different for every person:cool:

One big reason to not let a battery sit fully charged is heat. OP is in Vermont so this is not a big deal like it is for someone in Texas or AZ, etc.

But not significantly better over short periods like you are talking about.

It seems that a lot of hybrids sold include infecting the new owner with OCD as a free accessory.

I wouldn't say "solved," but maybe "somewhat mitigated." I don't mind having mine finish charging a couple hours early. It lets it cool down a bit from the charging if it needs to. But if it's all day or overnight, I'm more comfortable with it at 50% or lower.

I presume that Toyota doesn't give precise time limits for sitting all charged up because someone most certainly will let theirs sit for just under that limit day in and day out and then sue Toyota when their battery fails just after the warranty expires.

Thanks i tried last night to setup
the departure time for 9am .
i also set the climate on.
i saved it..its recorded..it didnt charge or heat. the chargeport light was blinking..So i dont know
whats up with that. Theres alot of features i cant seem to get to work on this car..mostly software
related. I may have to go to the
stealership and have them prove me dumb. I did manage to get
toyota-alexa to work. 2021 pp le
325 miles on the odo. i cant seem
to get the connect features to work. and last night the departure
time charge didnt work. Its a nice car as is ive put 300+ miles in 4 days and put 2 gal of gas in today. So im diggin that for sure.

Check the easy stuff first. Is the clock correct? It's very easy to have it off by 12 hours.
