Need help troubleshooting after market backup camera

    I did try searching this topic without a ton of success, if there is a similar thread I am sorry for not finding it.

    I have a 2013 prius base model. About 5 years ago I installed a backup camera I bought online that just plugged into the back of the OEM head unit. It worked great no issues for the last 5 years. About a month ago is only works sometimes. Either the screen is all black or it works for a sec and then cuts out.

    I took the whole car interior apart today thinking there was a loose connection somewhere, but found no such issue.

    Anyone else had this issue?

    yeah. I don't believe there is a single Prius without a LCD screen. even my old 05 base had one.

    As of 2012 models, there was a "light refresh" that had an enhanced stereo system. This added the LCD Toyota Entune system to the whole lineup.
    2010-2011, the screen was only available on higher trim levels. I just got a Prius II 2010 without LCD/touchscreen.

    Did you tap into the rear brake lights? Have you checked that that connection is still ok?
