Hi just wondering if anyone has any info on an engine coolant change for Gen 2 Prius models without a CHRS (aka Coolant Heat Storage Tank). I believe someone on this forum mentioned that Euro models also have it deleted along with the 3-way valve.
I'm guessing it's the same but with alot less hassle but hoping to find a definitive resource as I'm still struggling to find the engine drain cock plug on my variant.
Would also appreciate if anyone could point me towards a free/paid repair manual for my model for this reason.

    Thank you kindly :)

    Welcome to PriusChat!!
I've never used the following link, but it should contain *everything* you need : Service Manuals - Google Drive

It would be great if you could extract the manuals from Gdrive and back them up on http://mega.nz/ as well, posting the link afterwards.

Even though it has no CHRS I still would not do a full engine coolant change out. It one of those cars that the cylinder head is above the radiator which tends to get air stuck in the cylinder head.

Your much better off just dumping the rad only. Take the black plastic cover off the top of the rad the rad cap is under there. Just open the rad petcock its on the bottom of the radiator on the drivers side. Take the cap off then open that drain spigot and dump the rad. Fill it back up with toyota SLLC. Buy 3 gallons. No buroing need. Just keep an eu
ye on that level for a few days.
Do that again in a few months. Its easy and will make a really good impact on the coolant loop and not invoke any air lock.

Airlocks are scary on a prius it could have a bad air lock going on and be over heating the engine you would never know that unless you run a scanguage. By the time the over temp sensor comes on the aluminum cylinder head may be damaged. Its a real weak spot on this car and should be respected.
