Yeah, not knowing the quality of the scrubber that was included.

Are there better ones out there? Or maybe just steel wool from a local store?

@Mendel Leisk 's Moroso came with something different. I don't really know if buying a stainless Scotch-Brite would be any better/safer. Scotch-Brite is made by 3M so it's probably the best you can get (at least in terms of stainless steel scrubbers designed to scour your dishes, not catch oil!)

yeah looks like very fine chain mail. But stainless steel scouring pads seem pretty durable. Especially ok if there’s one of those brass filters at the exit.

There's no brass filter. Inlet (from pcv) on the left, outlet on the right.

Maybe some bare copper grounding wire, bunched up? Solid, heavier gauge.

instead of the scrubber or as some sort of outlet filter? I don't really need to overanalyze this but don't want to pit my cylinders either.

Something stable that creates a labyrinth for the gasses rushing through.

i would rather have a looser filter media to trap majority of liquids than allow it to snake thru

No matter what material, that gas rips through there. My Moroso 85474’s (2 in series) have dense Wheaties of aforementioned chain mail material at both inlet and egress; stuff still gets through. And i added a baffle between the two, to force the gas into more round-about route. It’s a balancing act; you don’t want to clog it too much either.

So I started it up and no warning lights. Seemed to run pretty smooth:

However, after driving a few miles, I got home and popped the hood. It was charging the battery and was vibrating more than I expected (compared to my 2.4L CRV). There wasn't noticeable vibration inside the cabin...I just wanted to see so I popped the hood. The video doesn't capture it adequately; it makes the coolant hose and airbox look like they're just wavy. But the actual vibration was pretty noticeable. Both of those components moved back and forth about 5mm at a rate of maybe 10 times per second. It also sounds a bit rough. Of course, this is likely idling at a lower RPM than on startup, so maybe this is all completely normal (in which case I'd appreciate some confirmation!).

That 2nd video looks like you're going through a time warp!
Some vibration is normal. Hard to tell from that video. Did you use a cell phone?
If so, it's the software trying to stablize the video.

Ha! Yeah, cell phone. I think I have a setting for 60 frames per second but didn't turn it on. The vibration isn't out of the realm of normal for a 4 cyl (it's not as extreme as the old Porsche 2.5L they put in 944s) but it was much more than at warm up. Does the sound sound normal enough?

sounds normal to me, for a car with 150k. hybrid engines are notoriously rough and noisy, especially on warm up.
it's all about valve timing. they are built for efficiency, not smoothness

Yeah it was also sort of a strange situation where I had depleted the traction battery on my drive home. So it was idling in order to charge the battery, not the 1200 RPM maintenance mode. I would guess that the engine was only running at about 500 RPM based on the vibration. I suppose these engines very rarely idle at a complete stop like this, so it might not regularly have this type of idle.

Wait, does ECU need to relearn idle after cleaning throttle body, MAP or MAF?

Edit: I figured it couldn't hurt so I pulled the ground from the battery while I took a shower this morning.

What, you don't have a shower in your garage?
