OMG, today could be your lucky day. I pulled one of those harnesses out of the box and it's essentially brand new. It has some scratches on the copper busbars and sensing tabs from the original fasteners. Zero corrosion issues. A couple years ago, I had purchased 2 brand Gen 3 HV batteries from a Toyota Parts counter that was closing down. I sold one, and disassembled the other to use the modules to build a Gen 2 battery. This is the harness from that battery. And I'm sure I have a big box of the battery ECUs also, although the Gen 3s aren't really ecus, they're more of just a voltage sensing circuit. Nothing like the ECU in a Gen 2 HV battery.

!! I'm going to talk to the mechanic again in the morning and ask him if he'll repair it if I can bring him the spare part regardless.

If the he thinks that'll do it, then I would be *sooo* happy to buy that one from you TMR-JWAP!

While he's looking at it, the "ecu" should be part number 89892-47020 OR 89892-47080, see if he can verify which one it is. There's a big sticker right on the case that has the number on it. I have both available. Pins are perfect. The "ecu/real name is sensor, battery voltage" can be seen at the link below

Too bad your a couple thousand miles away. I could knock that job out in an hour or so.

Not sure I'm seeing what makes it any more "difficult to keep the function / quality of part assembled" there than with the Gen 1 / Gen 2 harnesses you could buy ....

I agree 100%. It's essentially a mirror image of a Gen 2 "wire, frame #2" harness, just with a more compact plug.

Hey good morning, I checked with the mechanic, he said,

"The part on the battery is called a sense wire harness and is not a serviceable part on the Gen 3 Prius, there for no part number. The other part is an HV ECU, p/n: 89892-47080. We would only want a new, Toyota, part."

He also sent this picture of it. So, yes that part number matches! But he clearly doesn't want to install a part unless sold by toyota. Ugh.

Oh the pains of being far away! I'd take you up on it too.

The funny part is that these are essentially brand new Toyota parts. Installed on a factory new HV Battery that was disassembled before it was ever installed in a vehicle. (as can be seen in this thread)

For Sale - New in crate Toyota Prius replacement HV Battery | PriusChat

How about I mail you the parts and he can look at them. If he feels he's not capable of installing them then just send them back. If he's really insisting on installing a whole new battery then maybe you need to look for a shop that specializes a little more in Prius vehicles. There should be several in the Portland area.

This one comes up on a search.
    Hello, Mobile.

or perhaps forum member @PriusCamper is near your area? He does Prius battery work. He may even have the parts available.
