Catalytic converter stolen - scrap or repair?

    Live in LA and my 2005 Prius has nearly 250000 miles on it. It’s in pretty good nick other than the fact someone stole the catalytic converter off of it over Xmas. With the strict CA rules I can’t find an affordable option to repair it and I don’t think I can justify putting 2-3k in for a Toyota fix. At the moment the cars just parked on the street and being a noisy move every 2 weeks I have to move it for street sweeping. Just need some advice to what others have been able to do in this situation and if you have any cost effective solutions or thoughts, or if you think I should scrap it.

    Replaced hybrid battery at 180,000 miles, transmission at around 200,000 and I don’t want to keep pouring money into it.

    You can probably put an aftermarket cat in there, seems many are doing it in CA. So many are getting stolen, people are just putting anything 49 state legal to get the cars running again.

    Where can you get an aftermarket one in CA? I thought they didn’t allow it. Any info would be a huge help, thanks for the reply! If I can’t get this fixed I’ll let you know about selling.

    I have one for sale if you want it. You would need a new O2 sensor and either clamp/weld it on to your car. I go to Nevada often and I ship it there and bring it back to CA

    My catalytic converter was stolen from 2007 Prius this Tuesday and looking for aftermarket cat. Do you have one for sale?
