I am looking at buying a prius from Carmax and have two options I am considering.

    The first is a 2013 with 118k for $11k.

    The second is a 2015 with 47k for $17k.

I don't need anything fancy, but I am wondering if it is worth the extra 6k for such fewer miles, and to have the warranty still intact. I expect to have to pay more maintenance etc on the 2013, but I figure that can be factored into the <6k.

    What would you do?

the biggest thing is the head gasket problem. the 13 could wind up costing thousands in repairs, where the 15 has updated pistons and rings.
an issue toyota has failed to acknowledge, even while updating the engine in 2015.

but then again, t 17k, you're in brand new prius prime territory. is it worth a few thousand more to have a brand new much better vehicle?

    all the best!(y)
