Do you understand what a C1259 code is?

Hey I wanted to ask about this. Someone in a Reddit Prius forum said the code c1259 popped up for them and they were having similar issues to me. Engine wouldn’t start dashboard looked the same. Took it to Toyota and he had a code c1259 which had something to do with the regenerative break. He ended up having his Intelligent Power Module replaced for free due to warranty. Could this have anything to do with it?

I do not have the Gen 3 background to provide an accurate answer. I'm more of a Gen2 person.

Toyota's Technical Information System isn't so much a tool (in the hardware sense), as their online library where all the manuals, wiring diagrams, technician training, etc. can be found.

Elektroingenieur built this wiki page to tell you all about it, including various options like public libraries that may have paid-up access to it already, as well as the $20 direct subscription option.

So even though it isn't a piece of hardware, it's often the most important tool you will use fixing your car.

Sometimes people also find materials on the web that have been downloaded from TIS by somebody else, but the links don't always stay reliable.

oh okay. so i'm trying to find a reference for the wiring diagram that connects the safety plug. apparently there are 3 safety plugs in my car one being in the battery that orange plug, one in the front at the inverter, and the third i dont know. ive checked the safety plug in the battery its plugged in properly. will that guide show me where the other two are? anyone in here know?

The wiring diagram will show you the circuit, wire colors, location and routing, shapes of connectors and junctions, pin numbers, the whole nine yards. In the repair manual, if you turn to P0A0D, you've got fourteen pages of suggested steps for troubleshooting ... including how to stay safe (considering that two of the places you might end up checking are beneath inverter terminal covers exposing you to high voltage). If you've got that information and an ohmmeter you can use, you're off to the races.

I'm pretty sure all the wiring in question is routed within the cabin and the engine compartment. Nothing you'd need to lift the car for.

I fixed it I fixed that sonofabitch the orange safety plug connection is loose. I had made sure since the problem first arose that it was on correctly, push it in, lock it, slide to the right. Some wiring inside the plug is loose I was living in the desert out of my Prius for a month it must’ve come loose driving on those bumpy dirt roads. I had to really smack that bitch in there with the palm of my hand and then I heard some sparks. And when I turned it on the smart engine turned on AND the hybrid battery works too the dashboard is all clear no lights on it except the ready light. I feel ecstatic.

Saw this in the bed of a truck parked at harbor freight. A quick $3000 if you snatch two of those lol. See any catalytic converters in there btw?

Good show! Another good example of how good a lead you can get in the right direction just by focusing on what the trouble code is telling you.

I'm happy it was a simple fix!
Did you ever put the charger on the 12v battery? Then check the voltage?
