Using BG EPR/MOA/44K kit when not changing your own oil

My Prius is 2009, 235k or so, sometimes burns a bit of oil between changes but not enough that I ever need to add it. MPG has gone down to mid-high 30s. Is a bit rough switching between engines or to idle at a stop. Nothing too bad, but hoping to help keep her healthy.

Decided to try the BG kit, but I do not change my own oil. I have read here and watched videos about how to put car in maintenance mode, add the EPR and then run for 15-20 minutes. Then it always says you should IMMEDIATELY change the oil.

QUESTION 1 - can I do this myself outside the garage that will change the oil and then let car sit until its my turn for the oil change? Will have to drive a few feet after the treatment to get into the garage. Would sitting for an hour (if they are backed up) or more hurt it?

Then, I think after draining the oil + detergent, you add the MOA intermittently with the new oil (a little oil, a little MOA, a little oil, a little MOA)...

QUESTION 2 - can I add this all at once after the shop puts in the new oil?

    Thanks in advance.

I've done the EPR treatment outside the dealer before. It was fine;).

I add the MOA about a quart into the new oil add. But maybe ask the shop to add to the midpoint on the dipstick so it can be added later :).

Good luck and keep us posted(y).

Done!! I poured in the EPR and ran the car before the oil change. They wouldn't let me add the MOA mid-fill, but I did add it immediately afterwards. Then I put in the 44K and filled the tank.

I ran errands for 20-25 miles afterwards and it REALLY seems to have helped. Time will tell, but in that 20+ miles on stop-light roads, there was only one brief "shudder" when switching between engines - lasting maybe about 1/4 of the time it used to take, and mostly the switch was SEAMLESS. Could it really have made that much difference? If so, well worth it.

Next week - PCV valve and maybe new plugs. My car is gonna have a new lease on life!!

Glad it worked out for you :).

I have started our 2019 Prime at 30k miles to BG Products treatments;).

    Should be a help(y).
