    Locking is the EASY part.
UNlocking seems to be a bit tricker…..

    Good Luck!

well, I mean the parents failed at keeping their promises to each other (marriage), failed to consider the father as the final decision maker (the no virus decision by him) , so of course the child is going to fail to respect their guidance.

it's not really a huge surprise that crappy parents raise crappy children to become crappy adults.

the really surprising part is that every news article/blog (like the one linked) is about the crappy people that can't decide to be great parents, can't figure out which bathroom to use, and don't even know the difference between good and bad. the focus of guidance by showing GOOD PARENTING DECISIONS is gone, and all the focus is on the "ohh life is so dramatically hard for us because _______" whining.

    Typical NYT clickbait.
If a 17 year old kid can get weed, burner phones, laid, etc....then getting a rona shot is pretty weak tea.

Besides....if Liz goes to college or stays in the Empire State then the Rona shot will be mandatory pretty soon.

    Wow...
Somebody that still believes in sexual dimorphism.
    How quaint.

I musta been asleep when they made that coin toss, because I know of not very many (real-world) western cultures where the presumptive sperm donor is the final medical authority.
In most real-world legal cases, the manufacturer is effectively the tie-breaker.

I had to look that up (thanks I learnt me a little something today!) but yes, according to the definition of sexual dimorphism, humans still display it today by about 15-20% depending on the folks compared.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at there, what does differences in size have to do with the decision making in a family ? it for that matter, what does it have to do with a family ?

a sperm donor is a very odd thing indeed. but we're talking about a husband and wife that failed in marriage, fail in child rearing, and failed to guide their child or to agree to guide their child later on also. basically they failed all the way around, so the child not considering get parents guidance and decisions fits perfectly there. I bet growing up like that really sucks.

it's so much easier to break up families when they aren't strongly bound to each other.

Now, now, now. It's not politically correct to shame someone just because that person is a misogynist who obviously has no experience in raising kids. Which makes sense. In the misogynist world, the man works and the woman does the easy stuff like raising the kids.

I learned, by raising kids as a single parent, that the influences on a child's development are far more diverse than just the parents.

    "easy stuff..."
    :ROFLMAO:

We made the decision to become a single income family a few years before a little-known, mixed race author wrote about the "two income trap."
I read the book in 04......before it was reprised.
It worked for us, despite the fact that my CFO was, literally, earning MORE than I was when I gave up a dream job (building napkin drawings and tossing them into the ocean for dot.navy.mil) and started fixing phones for a living.
In our case it worked out to be rather the opposite of misogyny...but people ARE wed to their little labels.

Getting back to the Rona, it's not all binary.
More than one thing can be true at once.

Parents in some parts of the US still get to raise their kids....and some parents fail spectacularly at doing the 'easy' stuff.
I still think that public schools should never trump parental medical choices MOST PARTICULARLY based on the actions of some school districts during THIS pandemic.
(I love using 'trump' in sentences because it does some really cool stuff with key-word search algorithms :) )

In most cases, teachers are mandatory reporters.
This allows the....um....."pros" (YMMV) to intervene.

    Just remember....
If they have the right to give YOUR child OTC meds without your knowledge or consent, you are ceding ground that you may have to struggle furiously to regain.

This goes well beyond COVID vaccinations....or even kids in class during dampanics.

Probably the now vaccinated are people who are more likely to travel between countries. Those countries with very low vax rate probably have fewer international travelers or even people who ever travel with an over night stay.

    Which vaccine did you take?

I took Pfizer and finished both about two months ago.

The last 4 administrations are pretty much a "how-not-to" for dealing with pandemics....something that we as a species have dealt with FOUR TIMES in the last century.

However (comma!) what we seem to be witnessing in the last 2 years is that as bafoonish and autocratic as dot.gov is, people left to their own devices are somewhat worse....especially collectively.
    Example: Airplanes.

    People are smart.
    Crowds are stupid.

YOU have an absolute right (for now) not to be forced to get a vaccine....especially an experimental one.
YOU have SOME rights as a parent over your kid. These are not quite as absolute because as it turns out kids are people too....sometimes even before they've left the manufacturer, and one of the higher purposes of dot.gov is to protect those who cannot (or, sometimes, will not) protect themselves.

Sometimes that can get kinda messy and confusing.
It is (still) legal to eat cows....but it is not legal in most cases to abuse them.
You have the right to pretty much feed your kid anything you want to, but if you're one of those goofy vegans who think that you can raise a child on bean sprouts and raw vegetables, then you might have your malnourished kid taken away from you.
Same for those whose religious beliefs (a right!) lean away from doctors and medical treatment.

If you think that the goobermint doesn't have a RIGHT to step into your life, then I'm here to tell you that you're WRONG.

Next time you go to church, look at one of the exits.
Chances are, there are more than one...and they're lighted, and those lights might be backed up by batteries.
There's a pretty good chance that the building was permitted, inspected, and IS maintained according to state standards.

    Dot.gov plays a role.
When people are morons.....they sometimes play a BIGGER role. ;)
