I am acquiring a nice 2008 this week (40k mi pkg 6) from the original owner (family) and I am already enjoying this forum. So I signed up but I'm very confused by the sign-up question of which model I have. I am in the USA and I understand the models are either Base or Touring but those aren't options. Are we looking for Gen 2? or trim level or ???

Welcome aboard... You sure do have a perfect Prius with mileage as low as that... I think they're asking for trim level in that question because the year car was made answers the gen 1, 2, 3 and beyond that question. In general keeping track of the trim level doesn't really matter that much in terms of most repairs and maintenance issues you'll need to learn about.

Thank you both! I picked it up yesterday, it's actually a Base Pkg 5 but it also came with leather seats from the regional distributor. I think they are the same as factory. They told me it has 40k but it's actually under 38k miles :)
I have the window stickers, original keys, mileage disclosure paper, it had 5 miles when they bought it. It already had the cat stolen and replaced at the dealer so a whole new exhaust system, and I installed a Miller Cat Shield on it right after it happened. At that time I had no idea it would end up in my driveway permanently.
I am a big gearhead and I must admit that I have always had a bit of disdain or jealousy for Prius. Before Covid I was commuting 75 miles/day in a 2008 Impreza hatchback which is very similar but I needed to fill up every 3-4 days. I am not sure what our plans are, all of our other cars are high miles. At this point it's just a bonus.
I design Lithium Ion battery cabinets for a living so who knows where this is all headed? It certainly is exciting!

Can't wait to test out the cabinet you design so we can use lithium packs from other cars at the wrecker to work in our Prius. :)
