Changing all the ECUs and Key from wrecked Prius into a different prius with lost key (not working!)

Mechanic said:

"Key n module work in new Prius [one with lost key] but won't ready light have to look into further"

Thinks there may be a couple modules buried in instrument panel?

Said: "Only switch smart key module. Also have power management module , pcm, and tps. All behind glovebox...fyi original smart key module was red this one blue"

Any insight as to what may need to be changed or done to get this to work. The car/key/computer should think it is from the wrecked car/key/computer which worked fine before and after the wreck.

Long story short: What all needs to be swapped over so that it works? The only thing he changed was the "smart key module"

 

LOL --- It's fixed. Needed couple other of the ECUs.

Got lucky/unlucky. Gen 3 was totalled a few days ago so he stripped all the parts (he put a 2016 gen 4 engine in it a few months ago only has 60k miles). So that will sit aside until the next gen 3 motor blows.

Then bought an inop (due to no key) gen 3 that arrived today. And was able to use the ECU/keys from the wrecked one.

Many years ago had issues with key fobs (on gen 2s) and stumbled across an eBay listing that including the ecus, keys, even the door handle so when you approach it unlocks via proximity. The whole set was like $120 to $150. So that is how I had the idea of doing it.

It is way cheaper to just swap it all over than to pay the dealer or locksmith for a new key fob. They want about $350 on a gen 2 last I checked.

(I am aware of "the chicken dance" and have done that --- but you cannot do that when the buttons are all smashed in and frozen and don't work on the original key fob....And sometimes you don't gain the smart functionality like proximity unlock and proximity starting doing the chicken dance.)

 

No fault insurance so they don't pay a penny.

Parted it down. Saved a lot just on the key trick for 1 Prius and was able to make another prius whole (the one hit front left --- which also used airbags, seat belt, 12V, and hybrid). And tons of parts left over including a gen 4 engine. Pics a little blurry cause were screenshots of a video he sent me.

Was rear-ended air bags did not deploy.
