The forum automatically tries to "help" and modifies the url sometimes on some machines. Unfortunately nothing I can do about it.

The US has no manufacturing capabilities for such batteries. And most of the NiMH raw material as you say comes from China and Mongolia.

Actually your link goes to "store.newpriusbatteries.com " which appears not to exist.

Thanks for looking out! We are actually migrating our servers this week and I guess the store hasn't caught up... Servers moved last week so the site was duplicated. Now the old one is shut off as of last night, but the store isn't forwarding yet. Think it's just an Internet DNS issue and hopefully will self heal itself today!

New site has a 300x speed improvement so there's that...

Hmm...I went directly to newpriusbatteries.com and then clicked on the store link...and I get an error. Chrome also complains about the site not being secure...

The non store site is not secure as there is nothing there but text. The store is secure and hosted by a ecommerce provider. I think they are the bottleneck now waiting on them to update their DNS records from our new server to the store. Luckily we're out of stock right now!

Even your contact page is http (untrusted), which means everything like the return email address is sent in plain text with no encryption. Not a good look for your company to be listed as untrustworthy on any of your pages, but especially on pages that require a user to put in personal information like email address and name. Get a certificate for your site and change it all over to https so your customers have a bit more confidence in your site. Just friendly advice.

in reality that is not the case.

Lithium and cobalt are found elsewhere than China including substantial deposits in the USA but concerns about pollution, OSHA regulations and labor costs make it more expensive to mine here. The reason is really only economic not geophysical in that for decades companies in the USA blissfully outsourced the supply chains to China in order to sweeten their bottom lines and the corrupt politicians were complicit in that they permitted this to happen while ignoring the pollution that was offshore instead of in the USA. The USA has the CURRENT ability to print money with impunity selling its debt to others and so no one seems to notice how capital flows elsewhere along with jobs.

We can’t or rather choose not to, even make our own ibuprofen and penicillin anymore. It’s just so easy to let the Chinese do it. That way the companies who offshore production are subsidized by the taxpayers who have to pick up the consequential social costs of unemployment etc. and to top it off, idiots who support the so-called Paris Accord lay the costs on the USA tax payers and give the Uber polluters like China and India a pass.

Unfortunately the major browser makers are trying to force https security everywhere, even where it is not needed.

They are behaving much like the ssl "web of trust" turned into profiteering "silos of trust". The original concept of SSL trust was for friends trusting known friends, not trusting unknown big corporations.

Here are a couple of Dr. Prius shots of my battery that was installed in 2019 in my 2005.
The first is right after repairs to replace a bad battery fan control module, then as it’s charging and then fully charged. A few oddities but everything looks good. This happen to be the first time I’ve ever done a “forced charge and got it to 80% capacity and all bars green.

You might be thinking of the PGP model. PGP was originally designed on a web of trust model, you would go around and meet folks and sign each other's PGP keys.

The SSL model evolved in almost exactly the other direction: the original X509 standard presumed a single root certification authority that every certificate would be traceable to. X509v3 adapted to the reality that nothing like that was going to happen.

I would see what 2k1T says to do, but I might suggest: discharge the battery to just under 50%, then accelerate hard (full throttle to 50+) then decelerate hard (while logging the data). I would want to see what the voltages and amps look like when the battery is under heavy discharge and charge loads. Any weak module would likely show up there.

Yes indeed. One of the upgrades we have been working on is new hosting which includes certificates. That should be live now. You can still access the HTTP page but HTTPS is signed. It has been in the works for a while as we migrated the entire shop, backend, and frontend. Had some email issues last week with the DNS not updating so quickly, but all appears well now. :)

I haven’t noticed any problems with the kit provided by 2k1Toaster at all.
I just wanted to post some readings from the rebuilt battery to compare it with the stock batteries. The only Dr. Prius oddity is the measurement of cell 10, before it was completely charged. It read a little lower than the rest. After the forced charge it measured the same as the rest of the packs. It dropped from 80% state of charge to 75% in less than a minute when it was idling. Evidently it wants to keep it between 75% and 50% during normal use.

Well, forgive me if I did not read all 45 pages to get here; I just googled, found the thread and headed to the end...I figured there is no point on reading posts from 4 years ago.

    In any case,
am I to gathered that 2 k 1 Toaster sells New Prius Batteries? May I get one?

    Please advise.

My previous message was meant to be a bit longer, but this chat engine wouldn't let me post it, saying that there was some sneaky URL in my message...don't quite know which letters are triggering such warning. Sorry.

Unless you want the full history, not much use! The summary is the modules we introduced back then still work great today. And since then we've made 2 rounds of improvements even on those.

Yes. We sell them on my website The pandemic has done 2 things for our batteries. The first being killed a lot of Prii from not being used since nobody had anywhere to drive. So demand has gone up. Secondly supply chains and shipping are all out of whack. So it is taking longer and is less predictable when we get stock in.

As of today, the earliest we have availability is November assuming nobody cancels.

Are any of the upgrades retrofit-able to your older batteries?

Just wondering if there's any update/resolution on this situation? Was the beta at fault (bad cell) or was it something else?
